Introduction: Accurate and timely diagnosis of central nervous system infections (CNSIs) is critical, yet current gold-standard techniques like lumbar puncture (LP) remain invasive and prone to delay. This study proposes a novel noninvasive framework integrating handcrafted radiomic features and deep learning (DL) to identify cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) alterations on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with acute CNSI.
Methods: Fifty-two patients diagnosed with acute CNSI who underwent LP and brain MRI within 48 h of hospital admission were retrospectively analyzed alongside 52 control subjects with normal neurological findings.
Pulmonary emboli (PE) are a common clinical problem seen when a peripheral deep vein thrombosis (DVT) migrates to the pulmonary arteries. However, emerging literature suggests that not all filling defects in the pulmonary arteries are the result of embolism, and that in situ pulmonary arterial thrombus (ISPAT) or low-flow stasis artifact (LFSA) within the pulmonary arteries can mimic acute PE. The proposed mechanism for ISPAT is chronic stasis due to abnormal perfusion in areas of parenchymal lung disease leading to in situ thrombosis.

Background And Objectives: Hemostasis factors affecting clot patterns, particularly fibrinogen, may influence the effectiveness of intravenous thrombolysis (IVT). We aimed to investigate the impact of differences in fibrinogen plasma levels on the efficacy and safety of tenecteplase alteplase in an acute ischemic cerebrovascular events-II (TRACE-II) trial.
Methods: In a multi-center, prospective, open-label, end-point blinded, randomized, controlled trial.

Background: Chronic hypoperfusion is a risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases. However, the sequence of events driving ischemia-induced functional changes in a cell-specific manner is unclear.
Methods: To address this gap in knowledge, we used the bilateral common carotid artery stenosis (BCAS) mouse model, and evaluated progressive functional changes to neurons, arterioles, astrocytes, and microglial cells at 14 and 28 days post-BCAS surgery.

Acute pyelonephritis is a common renal infection that can become life-threatening when complicated by structural abnormalities, resistant pathogens, or systemic comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus. While common complications include renal abscess and sepsis, spontaneous subcapsular hematoma is a rare but serious manifestation that requires prompt recognition and intervention. This article reports the case of a 54-year-old female with a history of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia, who presented with fever, flank pain, vomiting, and gross hematuria.
