Oncolytic viral therapy has gained significant traction as cancer therapy over the past 2 decades. Oncolytic viruses are uniquely designed both to lyse tumor cells through their replication and to recruit immune responses against virally infected cells. Increasingly, investigators are leveraging this immune response to target the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and improve immune effector response against bystander tumor cells. In this article, we review the spectrum of preclinical, early-stage clinical, and potential future efforts with cytokine-secreting oncolytic viruses, with a focus on the treatment of brain tumors and solid tumors.

Background: The Therapeutic Effects of Steroids in IgA Nephropathy Global (TESTING) trial demonstrated that glucocorticoid therapy reduced proteinuria and improved kidney outcomes in patients with Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy (IgAN). Galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) plays a central role in IgAN pathogenesis by promoting immune complex formation. However, the effects of glucocorticoid on pathogenic IgA levels remain unclear.

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is a prevalent intestinal pathogen that significantly impacts both human and animal health. G83, isolated from giant panda feces, has demonstrated notable probiotic properties. In this study, C57BL/6 J mice were randomly divided into Control, ETEC, and G83 groups.

Purpose: Glioblastoma (GBM) remains one of the most aggressive primary brain tumors with poor survival outcomes and a lack of approved therapies. A promising novel approach for GBM is the application of photodynamic therapy (PDT), a localized, light-activated treatment using tumor-selective photosensitizers. This narrative review describes the mechanisms, delivery systems, photosensitizers, and available evidence regarding the potential of PDT as a novel therapeutic approach for GBM.

Metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC) remains a disease with poor prognosis. While conventional platinum-based chemotherapy has long served as the standard first-line treatment, its survival benefit is limited, particularly in cisplatin-ineligible patients. The introduction of immune checkpoint inhibitors and antibody-drug conjugates as part of sequential treatment has improved outcomes, with pembrolizumab, avelumab, and enfortumab vedotin (EV) providing survival benefit in later lines.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer therapy but are increasingly linked to immune-related kidney injury (irKI). This study presents the first bibliometric analysis of irKI research (2000-2025), aiming to identify key trends, mechanistic insights, and pharmacological risk factors. We analyzed 2,179 publications to understand the evolution of irKI research, focusing on areas like T cell-mediated tubular injury, immune system-driven inflammation, and changes in metabolism.
