The structural organization and phase behaviour of an amphiphilic zwitterionic quinonemonoimine at the air/water interface are presented. Brewster angle microscopy reveals multiple co-existing phases are observed over the entire isotherm while grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXD) shows that these comprise both tilted, untilted and multilayer structures with crystalline headgroups. Despite the heterogeneity, the phase transitions are highly reversible over multiple cycles.

Background: Guided bone regeneration (GBR) relies on biocompatible membranes to support osteogenesis. 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE)-crosslinked hyaluronic acid (xHyA) has shown promise in enhancing bone regeneration, yet its mechanisms remain unclear.
Objective: This study evaluates the osteogenic effects of xHyA-functionalized native pericardium collagen membrane (NPCM) and ribose-crosslinked collagen membrane (RCCM) using an airlift culture model with SaOS-2 cells.

Topologically associating domains (TADs) and chromatin architectural loops impact promoter-enhancer interactions, with CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) defining TAD borders and loop anchors. TAD boundaries and loops progressively strengthen upon embryonic stem (ES) cell differentiation, underscoring the importance of chromatin topology in ontogeny. However, the mechanisms driving this process remain unclear.

Although floral morphology in ornamental chrysanthemums has been widely investigated, its genetic basis in medicinal varieties such as Chrysanthemum morifolium cv. 'Hangju' remains largely unexplored, despite its direct relevance to both capitulum development and medicinal quality. To address this gap, we performed transcriptome profiling of ray and disc florets from wild-type and mutant plants, which led to the identification of two MYB-related transcription factor genes, CmDIV-like and CmRAD1, as differentially expressed and potentially associated with altered floral symmetry.

Many plant cell functions, including cell morphogenesis and anisotropic growth, rely on the self-organisation of cortical microtubules into aligned arrays with the correct orientation. An important ongoing debate is how cell geometry, wall mechanical stresses, and other internal and external cues are integrated to determine the orientation of the cortical array. Here, we demonstrate that microtubule-based nucleation can markedly shift the balance between these often competing directional cues.
