Microbubble-mediated focused ultrasound is a promising strategy for transient and localized blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeabilization, enabling drug delivery to the brain. Optimizing microbubble stability and acoustic response is essential to maximize treatment efficiency and minimize potential damage. This study introduces an innovative microbubble formulation with a phospholipid-fluoropolymer shell (LIP-POL), designed to enhance circulation persistence while maintaining a low cavitation threshold.

Fulminant myocarditis is a rare but life-threatening complication of influenza A infection that can result in acute biventricular failure leading to cardiogenic shock. Here, we present the case of a young patient who developed acute bilateral heart failure secondary to influenza A and was successfully stabilized using both right and left-sided Impella devices. This case highlights the critical role of early and aggressive mechanical circulatory support (MCS) in managing fulminant myocarditis and emphasizes the utility of Impella in cases of severe cardiac dysfunction.

Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology (AHFTC) is a vital subspecialty addressing the growing burden of heart failure and the increasing need for advanced therapies such as mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation. Despite rising clinical demand, interest in AHFTC fellowship training appears to be declining. This study evaluated trends in applicants, training positions, match rates, and unfilled positions in the AHFTC match from 2020 to 2025.
