Acute or chronic liver damage can result in Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE), a potentially fatal neuropsychiatric condition that leads to cerebral and neurological alterations. Dapagliflozin (DAPA), an orally active Sodium/Glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor with long duration of action. The study aim was to evaluate the potential protective impact of DAPA against HE caused by Thioacetamide (TAA) in rats.

Vertebrate animals and many small DNA and single-stranded RNA viruses that infect vertebrates have evolved to suppress genomic CpG dinucleotides. All organisms and most viruses additionally suppress UpA dinucleotides in protein-coding RNA. Synonymously recoding viral genomes to introduce CpG or UpA dinucleotides has emerged as an approach for viral attenuation and vaccine development.

Our understanding of how the medial temporal lobe (MTL) contributes to human cognition has advanced enormously over the past half a century. My work in the 1990s characterizing the role of recollection and familiarity processes in episodic memory led me to study the MTL's role in these two memory processes. In the current paper, I provide a personal commentary in which I describe the motivating ideas, as well as the invaluable impact of mentors, colleagues, and students that led to a series of studies showing that conscious recollection is critically dependent on the hippocampus, whereas familiarity-based judgments are dependent on regions such as the perirhinal cortex.

Aims: The clusterin (CLU) gene is genetically associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and CLU levels have been shown to positively correlate with regional Aβ deposition in the brain, including in arteries from cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) patients. CLU has also been shown to alter the aggregation, toxicity and blood-brain barrier transport of amyloid beta (Aβ) and has therefore been suggested to play a key role in regulating the balance between Aβ deposition and clearance in both the brain and cerebral blood vessels. However, it remains unclear whether the role of clusterin in relation to Aβ deposition is protective or pathogenic.

Background: Rhinosinusitis (RS) is a leading reason for antibiotic prescriptions but treatment satisfaction is low. Misdiagnosis may contribute to poor outcomes, as migraine-often underrecognized-can mimic RS symptoms, with studies showing overlap between RS and migraine diagnoses. Our aims were to explore the demographics and clinical features of facial pain or pressure (FPP), its relationship with migraine and RS, and distinguish symptoms between these overlapping conditions.
