DNA detection nanoporous-based electrochemical biosensors is a promising method for rapid pathogen identification and disease diagnosis. These sensors detect electrical current variations caused by DNA hybridization in a nanoporous layer on an electrode. Current fabrication techniques for the typically micrometers-thick nanoporous layer often suffer from insufficient control over nanopore dimensions and involve complex fabrication steps, including handling and stacking of a brittle porous membrane.

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) measures brain function via assessment of magnetic fields generated by neural currents. Conventional MEG uses superconducting sensors, which place significant limitations on performance, practicality, and deployment; however, the field has been revolutionised in recent years by the introduction of optically-pumped magnetometers (OPMs). OPMs enable measurement of the MEG signal without cryogenics, and consequently the conception of "OPM-MEG" systems which ostensibly allow increased sensitivity and resolution, lifespan compliance, free subject movement, and lower cost.

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have dominated the portable electronic and electrochemical energy markets since their commercialisation, whose high cost and lithium scarcity have prompted the development of other alkali-ion batteries (AIBs) including sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and potassium-ion batteries (PIBs). Owing to larger ion sizes of Na and K compared with Li, nanocomposites with excellent crystallinity orientation and well-developed porosity show unprecedented potential for advanced lithium/sodium/potassium storage. With enticing open rigid framework structures, Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) remain promising self-sacrificial templates for the preparation of various nanocomposites, whose appeal originates from the well-retained porous structures and exceptional electrochemical activities after thermal decomposition.

Background: Respiratory function monitors (RFMs) have been used extensively in manikin and infant studies yet have not become the standard of training. We report the outcomes of a new portable, lightweight RFM, the Juno, designed to show mask leak and deflation tidal volume to assist in positive pressure ventilation (PPV) competency training using manikins.
Methods: Two leak-free manikins (preterm and term) were used.
