Natural history of tractional lamellar macular hole.

Retina

September 2025

Department of Ophthalmology, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Seongnam, Korea.

Purpose: To evaluate the long-term functional and anatomical outcomes in patients with tractional lamellar macular holes who were managed without surgical intervention.

Methods: 63 eyes previously diagnosed with tractional lamellar macular hole between July 1, 2009 and January 30, 2024 without any surgical interventions were enrolled. The change in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), lamellar hole diameter, central retinal thickness (CRT) on Optical coherence tomography (OCT), foveal avascular zone (FAZ) areas on OCT angiography, and M-chart scores between initial and final visit were assessed.

Background:  Small infants face more developmental risks than their full-term peers, necessitating early intervention and long-term monitoring.

Objectives:  This study examined the longitudinal developmental and hearing outcomes of small infants attending a high-risk clinic in a South African low-income community setting.

Method:  A short-term longitudinal within-subject descriptive study design was employed, where 28 participants underwent hearing and developmental screenings and assessments at two follow-up appointments (T1 and T2), at 6- and 12-month corrected age.

Purpose: To identify predictors of the 2-year best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) after subretinal tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) injection for massive submacular hemorrhage (SMH) complicating neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).

Study Design: A prospective, observational study.

Methods: This study included consecutive eyes with massive SMH and nAMD that underwent vitrectomy with subretinal tPA injection and follow-up for 2 years.

To evaluate long‑term outcomes of corneal patch grafting (CPG) and to determine prognostic factors for anatomical and functional success. This retrospective study included 35 eyes from 35 patients who underwent CPG between April 2016 and September 2022 at Adana City Training and Research Hospital. Collected data included age, sex, preoperative and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), graft localization and size, anterior segment findings, graft survival, secondary surgical procedures, and rates of anatomical and functional success.
