Monolithic realization of metallic 1T and semiconducting 2H phases makes MoS a potential candidate for future microelectronic circuits. A method for engineering a stable 1T phase from the 2H phase in a scalable manner and an in-depth electrical characterization of the 1T phase is wanting at large. Here we demonstrate a controllable and scalable 2H to 1T phase engineering technique for MoS using microwave plasma. Our method allows lithographically defining 1T regions on a 2H sample. The 1T samples show excellent temporal and thermal stability making it suitable for standard device fabrication techniques. We conduct both two-probe and four-probe electrical transport measurements on devices with back-gated field effect transistor geometry in a temperature range of 4 K to 300 K. The 1T samples exhibit Ohmic current-voltage characteristics in all temperature ranges without any dependence to the gate voltage, a signature of a metallic state. The sheet resistance of our 1T MoS sample is considerably lower and the carrier concentration is a few orders of magnitude higher than that of the 2H samples. In addition, our samples show negligible temperature dependence of resistance from 4 K to 300 K ruling out any hoping mediated or activated electrical transport.

Controlling spin currents, that is, the flow of spin angular momentum, in small magnetic devices, is the principal objective of spin electronics, a main contender for future energy-efficient information technologies. A pure spin current has never been measured directly because the associated electric stray fields and/or shifts in the non-equilibrium spin-dependent distribution functions are too small for conventional experimental detection methods optimized for charge transport. Here we report that resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) can bridge this gap by measuring the spin current carried by magnons-the quanta of the spin wave excitations of the magnetic order-in the presence of temperature gradients across a magnetic insulator.

Introduction: The recent rise in e-scooter usage has reshaped urban mobility but has also led to a significant increase in e-scooter-related injuries, raising critical safety concerns. While existing research has primarily focused on post-crash medical outcomes and general risk comparisons, substantial gaps remain in identifying specific risk factors associated with e-scooter crashes and utilizing interpretable analytical approaches.
Method: This study addresses these gaps by analyzing 2,400 e-scooter crash records from the UK STATS19 database using advanced machine learning models to predict injury severity.

The regulation of droplet dynamics based on external electric fields and bioinspired functional surfaces has widespread applications in various fields. However, research on the coupling of these two factors to enhance oil-water separation efficiency is urgently needed. In this study, laser-induced and solvent treatment techniques were coupled to assemble a micronano setal and bioinspired beetle elytra textured substrate with the lotus effect, A "top conductive, bottom insulating" Desert beetle elytra micronano tuft composite texture (DBE) biomimetic superhydrophobic surface was fabricated.

We review the fabrication and transport characterization of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN)/Bernal bilayer graphene (BLG) moiré superlattices. Due to the moiré effect, the hBN/BLG moiré superlattices exhibit an energy gap at the charge neutrality point (CNP) even in the absence of a perpendicular electric field. In BLG, the application of a perpendicular electric field tunes the energy gap at the CNP, which contrasts with single-layer graphene and is similar to the family of rhombohedral multilayer graphene.

Following the global COVID-19 pandemic, greater attention has been paid to public health safety, especially in hospital environments. In waiting areas with interconnected spaces, complex airflow, unclear bioaerosol dispersion, and the limitations of traditional control methods pose major challenges. This study combined real-world experiments and numerical simulations to investigate the airborne transmission characteristics of pathogen-laden aerosols in a hospital waiting corridor.
