Serum albumin and cholesterol levels predict survival in primary myelofibrosis, independent of each other and contemporary risk models. The cachexia index, determined by serum albumin and cholesterol levels, might further refine current prognostic models in myelofibrosis.

Various cancer therapeutic strategies have been designed for targeting tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), but TAM reprogramming-based monotherapy is often clinically hindered, likely due to the lack of a coordinated platform to initiate T cell-mediated immunity. Herein, we fabricated reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive human serum albumin (HSA)-based nanoparticles (PEG/IL12-IA NPs) consisting of indocyanine green (ICG), arginine (Arg), and interleukin 12 (IL12). Upon laser irradiation, the nanoparticles were found to be able to dissociate, thus facilitating the release of IL12.

Identifying the risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy (OHE) in geriatric patients with cirrhosis remains challenging. This study aimed to investigate the independent factors for OHE development in geriatric cirrhosis and to establish a simple scoring model to identify individuals at risk for OHE. We conducted a retrospective review of geriatric patients with cirrhosis aged ≥ 80 years who were admitted between April 2006 and November 2022.

Unlabelled: Bariatric surgery has emerged as a highly effective treatment option for individuals with obesity. Severe hypoalbuminaemia is a feared complication after a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. It is characterised by a low serum albumin level of <25 g/l, neither explained by renal losses, protein-losing enteropathy nor by liver disfunction, and is associated with high morbidity and mortality.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of telitacicept versus mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) in high-risk progressive immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN).
Methods: This retrospective, multicentre cohort study included patients with high-risk progressive IgAN who received telitacicept or MMF therapy, both combined with low-dose steroids. Clinical data were collected from treatment initiation to 12 months.

Background: Despite advances in treatment and the potential role of serum albumin as a prognostic biomarker, the mortality rate of individuals with coronary heart disease (CHD) continues to increase. Thus, this study aimed to assess the relationship between serum albumin levels and the risk of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular death in individuals with CHD.
Methods: This large-scale retrospective cohort study included 1556 participants diagnosed with CHD from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey spanning 1999 to 2015.
