TRIM58 is a member of the tripartite motif protein (TRIM) family of E3 ubiquitin ligases. Aberrant gene methylation of TRIM58 has been reported in liver and lung cancer and indicates a poor patient prognosis. However, the expression level and functional role of TRIM58 in colorectal cancer (CRC) have yet to be elucidated. In the present study, we found that TRIM58 expression was significantly suppressed in human CRC and was inversely correlated with CRC progression. Additionally, overall survival was significantly reduced in patients with low TRIM58 expression in CRC tumors. In vitro studies demonstrated that ectopic TRIM58 overexpression strongly inhibited CRC cell invasion but had minimal effects on cell proliferation, colonization and migration. Furthermore, TRIM58 suppression enhanced the expression of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) genes. Thus, our findings suggest that TRIM58 is a potential prognostic marker of CRC and functions as a tumor-suppressor gene via inhibition of cancer cell invasion through EMT and MMP activation.

Intranodal palisaded myofibroblastomas with amianthoid fibers (IPM) are rare mesenchymal neoplasms showing a myofibroblastic differentiation. Histopathologically, they might be difficult to distinguish from schwannoma or other neoplasia with spindle cell morphology, especially on limited biopsies. CTNNB1 gene variants have been detected in at least 50% of tumors.

Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Mexico, primarily due to persistent infection with high-risk Alpha-papillomavirus genotypes, such as HPV16 and 18. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has revealed a high prevalence of Beta- and Gamma-HPVs, mainly Beta-2 types 38b, 80, 107, and 122, in cervical cancer samples from Mexico. Our group previously reported that HPVs 38b, 107, and 122 possess transforming properties in primary fibroblasts; however, the oncogenic potential of E6/E7-HPV80 has not yet been elucidated.

Aim: In 2005-2006, a chikungunya epidemic of unprecedented magnitude hit Reunion Island, which raised a public health concern through the substantial proportions of long-lasting manifestations. To understand the pathophysiology underlying chronic chikungunya (CC), we designed the CHIKGene cohort study and collected blood samples from 133 subjects diagnosed with CC and from 86 control individuals that had recovered within 3 months, 12-to-15 years after exposure.
Methods: We conducted bulk RNAseq analysis on peripheral blood mononuclear cells to find differentially expressed genes (DEGs), gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and gene ontologies to uncover top-level enriched terms associated with DEGs, and weighted gene correlation network analysis (WGCNA) to elucidate underlying cellular processes.

Objective: To identify key genes associated with the prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) through bioinformatics analysis and experimental validation, exploring the expression of the TRIM58 gene and its potential effect as a tumor suppressor.
Methods: In this study, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially methylated genes (DMGs) related to lung adenocarcinoma and lung squamous cell carcinoma were selected from the TCGA dataset, with the Limma package in R software used for further filtering and intersection, followed by the assessment of the relationship between these genes and NSCLC prognosis using log-rank tests and univariate Cox regression analysis. Meanwhile, six clinical NSCLC cancer and adjacent tissue samples were collected, along with the detection of TRIM58 mRNA and protein levels using RT-PCR and Western blot.

This study investigated whether the neddylation inhibitor MLN4924 induces aberrant DNA methylation patterns in acute myeloid leukemia and contributes to the reactivation of tumor suppressor genes. DNA methylation profiles of Kasumi-1 and KU812 acute myeloid leukemia cell lines before and after MLN4924 treatment were generated using the 850K Methylation BeadChip. RNA sequencing was used to obtain transcriptomic profiles of Kasumi-1 cells.
