NeuroMorpho.Org was launched in 2006 to provide unhindered access to any and all digital tracings of neuronal morphology that researchers were willing to share freely upon request. Today this database is the largest public inventory of cellular reconstructions in neuroscience with a content of over 80,000 neurons and glia from a representative diversity of animal species, anatomical regions, and experimental methods. Datasets continuously contributed by hundreds of laboratories worldwide are centrally curated, converted into a common non-proprietary format, morphometrically quantified, and annotated with comprehensive metadata. Users download digital reconstructions for a variety of scientific applications including visualization, classification, analysis, and simulations. With more than 1,000 peer-reviewed publications describing data stored in or utilizing data retrieved from NeuroMorpho.Org, this ever-growing repository can already be considered a mature resource for neuroscience.

Summary: In the era of large data, the cloud is increasingly used as a computing environment, necessitating the development of cloud-compatible pipelines that can provide uniform analysis across disparate biological datasets. The Warp Analysis Research Pipelines (WARP) repository is a GitHub repository of open-source, cloud-optimized workflows for biological data processing that are semantically versioned, tested, and documented. A companion repository, WARP-Tools, hosts Docker containers and custom tools used in WARP workflows.

Aims/hypothesis: Alpha cell dysregulation is an integral part of type 2 diabetes pathophysiology, increasing fasting as well as postprandial glucose concentrations. Alpha cell dysregulation occurs in tandem with the development of insulin resistance and changes in beta cell function. Our aim was to investigate, using mathematical modelling, the role of alpha cell dysregulation in beta cell compensatory insulin secretion and subsequent failure in the progression from normoglycaemia to type 2 diabetes defined by ADA criteria.

The growing availability of single-cell omics datasets presents new opportunities for reuse, while challenges in data transfer, normalization and integration remain a barrier. Here we present scvi-hub: a platform for efficiently sharing and accessing single-cell omics datasets using pretrained probabilistic models. It enables immediate execution of fundamental tasks like visualization, imputation, annotation and deconvolution on new query datasets using state-of-the-art methods, with massively reduced storage and compute requirements.

Introduction: Vaping among children and young people (CYP) has increased globally over the past decade, with rates stabilising in the UK in recent years. Factors such as curiosity, social influence, stress management and attractive flavours contribute to its popularity. Although the long-term health impacts are uncertain, vaping poses risks including nicotine dependence, cardiovascular and respiratory issues, and cognitive impairment, though evidence on long-term effects is still emerging.
