Background: The diagnostic accuracy of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) for the diagnosis of lymphoma has a low overall sensitivity. The lack of tissue architecture obtained by cytological needles decreases the diagnostic accuracy for diagnosis and subtyping of and relapsed mediastinal lymphomas. This study compares the sensitivity of EBUS-TBNA and endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial mediastinal cryobiopsy (EBUS-TMC) for both initial lymphoma diagnosis and recurrent cases, analyses safety, and evaluates the number of mediastinoscopies that could potentially be avoided due to this novel technique.

Introduction Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignancy among women worldwide and the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in women in Morocco. However, there is limited evidence on survival outcomes and treatment patterns among elderly patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) in this setting. Methods We conducted a retrospective cohort study at the Department of Medical Oncology, Hassan II University Hospital in Fez.

September 2025

Department of Biology, Plant-Microbe Interactions, Science for Life, Utrecht University, Utrecht, 3584CH, The Netherlands.

Background: Plant roots release root exudates to attract microbes that form root communities, which in turn promote plant health and growth. Root community assembly arises from millions of interactions between microbes and the plant, leading to robust and stable microbial networks. To manage the complexity of natural root microbiomes for research purposes, scientists have developed reductionist approaches using synthetic microbial inocula (SynComs).

Background: Pericardial involvement is common in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and can lead to recurrent episodes. B cell-targeted therapies are commonly used in the treatment of SLE pericarditis. The management of recurrent lupus pericarditis refractory to B cell-targeted therapy remains challenging.

Leveraging artificial intelligence and antibiotic data to facilitate the design of novel fungicides.

Pest Manag Sci

September 2025

National Pesticide Engineering Research Center, State Key Laboratory of Elemento-Organic Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Nankai University, Tianjin, People's Republic of China.

Background: Rapid advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI) are accelerating the process of pesticide development. However, transfer learning-based de novo design focuses on generating molecules that are highly similar to existing inhibitors, which may limit the exploration of novel scaffolds and thereby constrain innovative breakthroughs in pesticide development.

Results: This study proposes a new strategy for fungicide design using antibiotics.
