Histological chorioamnionitis (CAM) is one form of intrauterine inflammation that is often seen in cases of preterm birth and are usually confirmed based on pathological examination after delivery. Histological CAM is related to significant neonatal morbidity and mortality; however, its etiology is unknown. The objective of this study was to determine the risk factors for histological CAM, using medical background, including fetal heart rate (FHR) patterns in preterm birth cases. The preterm birth cases delivered between 28 and 36 weeks were categorized into two groups according to the presence of histological CAM. Ninety-five preterm infants were included: 48 infants without histological CAM and 47 cases with histological CAM. The odds ratio for histological CAM was adjusted for FHR patterns, gestational age, and delivery mode (vaginal delivery or Caesarean section). Logistic regression analysis showed that vaginal delivery and gestational age were associated with histological CAM (odds Ratio [OR]: 3.1, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.0-9.4, p < 0.05, and OR: 0.8, 95% CI: 0.6-0.9, p < 0.05, respectively). However, there were no specific FHR patterns associated with histological CAM. Our study indicates that in preterm birth cases, histological CAM is not related to any specific FHR pattern. However, labor uterine contraction and immature gestational age at the delivery are related to histological CAM. These results may provide better delivery management methods for preterm birth cases.

Oral cancer is typically diagnosed through histological examination; however, the primary issue with this type of procedure is tumor heterogeneity, where a subjective aspect of the examination may have a direct effect on the treatment plan for a patient. To reduce inter- and intra-observer variability, artificial intelligence algorithms are often used as computational aids in tumor classification and diagnosis. This research proposes a two-step approach for automatic multiclass grading using oral histopathology images (the first step) and Grad-CAM visualization (the second step) to assist clinicians in diagnosing oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Background: Sepsis disrupts normal wound healing and causes organ damage through a systemic inflammatory response. Pomegranate () is a natural antioxidant rich in polyphenols, such as ellagitannins and punicalagins, and has demonstrated potential anti-inflammatory and tissue-healing properties in various preclinical models.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of pomegranate extract administered before and after sepsis induction on wound healing in a cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) rat model.

Adenomatoid hyperplasia (AH) is an infrequent intraoral lesion, composed of lobular aggregates of hyperplastic normal-appearing salivary glands (SG). Three cases of adenomatoid hyperplasia of minor salivary glands (AHMSG) are reported: two were located on the hard palate, in a female patient aged 41 and in a male aged 85 years, and one in the lower lip, in a male patient aged 37. Histopathologically, lesions showed enlarged lobules of mucous or mixed acini with dilated salivary ducts and fibrous stroma.

Kidney cancer (KC) screening may be facilitated by targeting individuals at a higher risk and combining with other screening programmes. Previous estimates of the prevalence of screen-detected KC are outdated and do not enable an accurate assessment in a high-risk group. The Yorkshire Kidney Screening Trial (YKST) is a unique study of the feasibility of adding KC screening via an abdominal noncontrast computed tomography (CT) scan to the thoracic low-dose CT within a targeted lung cancer screening trial in ever smokers (Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial; YLST).

: The major question that confronts a pathologist when evaluating a lymph node biopsy is whether the process is benign or malignant, and the differential diagnosis between follicular lymphoma and reactive lymphoid tissue can be challenging. : This study designed a convolutional neural network based on ResNet architecture to classify a large series of 221 cases, including 177 follicular lymphoma and 44 reactive lymphoid tissue/lymphoid hyperplasia, which were stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E). Explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) methods were used for interpretability.
