Background/aim: We aimed to analyze the effects of stricture location, etiology, age, and catheterization time on recurrence rate and recurrence time in patients who underwent direct vision internal urethrotomy (DVIU) for urethral strictures. Materials and methods: Patients were divided into three groups according to the location of the stricture: penile urethra, membranous urethra, and prostatic urethra strictures. Patients were also divided into three groups according to etiologic factors: strictures secondary to endoscopic procedures, urethral catheterization, and open or radical prostatectomy (anastomotic strictures were included in this group). Patients were also divided into three groups according to catheterization time: <2, 2-5, and >5-7 days. Recurrence rate and time data were analyzed according to stricture location, etiology, age, and catheterization time. Results: The recurrence rate was significantly higher in endoscopic procedures. Recurrence rate was significantly lower and recurrence time was significantly earlier in penile urethral strictures. Recurrence rate was significantly lower and recurrence time was significantly longer in short catheterized group than in the other two groups. However, first recurrence time was not different between the groups, while second and multiple recurrence times were significantly earlier in patients <60 years old.Conclusion: Patients are exposed to multiple operations as a result of frequently recurring urethral strictures. Although DVIU is an important first-line treatment method for strictures, alternative methods should be considered for frequently recurring cases.

Male sex, younger age at time of first dislocation, and contact sports participation are risk factors for recurrent instability. MRI is the gold standard to evaluate soft tissue structures, while CT is beneficial in quantifying glenoid bone loss and identifying on-track and off-track Hill-Sachs lesions.

Background: The influence of obesity and sex on outcomes in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains unclear. The association between obesity (body mass index [BMI], ≥30) and biologic sex (male or female) for outcomes in patients with PDAC undergoing a surgery-first approach was investigated.
Methods: A prospectively maintained pancreatic cancer database at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was queried to identify all patients undergoing surgery with a pathologic diagnosis of PDAC.

Introduction: Erysipelas is a common disease in the emergency department, whereas necrotising soft tissue infections (NSTIs) are rare but more severe. The study aimed to investigate the prevalence, incidence, population-based incidence rate, one-year mortality and clinical presentation of erysipelas and NSTIs, and the aetiology, treatment and recurrence of erysipelas.
Methods: This was a population-based cohort study including acute non-trauma patients ≥ 18 years old with erysipelas or NSTIs from the Region of Southern Denmark in the period from 1 January 2016 to 19 March 2018.

Historically, management relied on renin-angiotensin system inhibition and empirical immunosuppression, yet high lifetime kidney failure risk persists despite optimized care. This review synthesizes advances in molecular pathogenesis, highlighting how the traditional multi-hit hypothesis-while foundational for targeted therapy development-fails to capture IgAN's recurrent, self-amplifying nature.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the role of MRI-guided hysteroscopic one-step precise resection in diagnosing suspected myometrial invasion (MI) of endometrial cancer (EC) in patients desiring fertility preservation and to analyze the impact of suspected MI on the outcomes of fertility-preserving treatments.
Methods: A total of 169 patients with early-stage endometrial cancer who required fertility preservation were enrolled. Among them, 103 cases were ruled out for myometrial invasion by MRI (control group), while 66 cases exhibited suspected myometrial invasion.
