Article Abstract

In this article, some strong convergence results for weighted sums of negatively superadditive dependent random variables are studied without assumption of identical distribution. The results not only generalize the corresponding ones of Cai (Metrika 68:323-331, 2008) and Sung (Stat. Pap. 52:447-454, 2011), but also extend and improve the corresponding one of Chen and Sung (Stat. Probab. Lett. 92:45-52, 2014).

Objectives: Waterpipe smoking is increasingly becoming a public health threat due to its appealing features and misperceptions of its harmful effects. Tools assessing waterpipe addiction are essential for understanding waterpipe smokers' behaviors and designing effective smoking cessation plans. This study aimed to develop and validate the Waterpipe Addiction, Craving, and Anticipation Scale (WACAS) and describe the specific patterns and multidimensional aspects of waterpipe smoking behavior.

Background: Fall risk-increasing drugs (FRIDs) increase the risks of falls, injuries, and fractures among older adults. However, limited evidence exists on how older adults perceive and manage FRID use, particularly in Indonesia.

Objective: This study developed and psychometrically evaluated a questionnaire for assessing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors (KABs) related to FRID use (hereafter KABQ-FRID) among older adults.

The paraventricular thalamic nucleus (PVT) integrates subcortical signals related to arousal, stress, addiction, and anxiety with top-down cortical influences. Increases or decreases in PVT activity exert profound, long-lasting effects on behavior related to motivation, addiction and homeostasis. Yet the sources of its subcortical excitatory and inhibitory afferents, their distribution within the PVT, and their integration with layer-specific cortical inputs remain unclear.

This study examines the reliability of fingerprint experts in assessing the individualization value of minutiae during the analysis of latent fingerprint traces. Despite the widespread use of fingerprint evidence in criminal investigations, growing concerns about examiner variability and the lack of verification protocols have prompted critical scrutiny of forensic practices. In this study, 30 Polish fingerprint experts were asked to identify and evaluate seven minutiae in two fingerprint traces of differing quality.

Background: Food addiction has been increasingly recognized as a contributing factor to obesity and eating disorders. Compulsive eating, characterized by an uncontrollable urge to consume food despite adverse consequences, shares behavioral similarities with substance addiction. This study aims to adapt the Brief Measure of Eating Compulsivity (MEC) into Turkish and evaluate its validity and reliability in the adolescent population.
