Background: (18)fluoro-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18FDG-PET/CT) might be a useful tool in the management of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
Aims: The aim of this study was to analyze maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) after 18FDG-PET/CT as predictor of survival outcomes and method to determine treatment strategies.
Methods: A consecutive series of patients who underwent preoperative 18FDG-PET/CT and subsequent resection for PDAC were retrospectively reviewed. Patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy were excluded.
Results: 46 patients were included in the analysis. Median follow-up was 27 months (4-67). Patients who recurred within 12 months showed a significantly higher preoperative median SUVmax (8.1 vs 6.1, p=0.039). Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves for disease-free survival (DFS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) identified SUVmax of 6.0 as optimal cut-off. Multivariate analysis showed that SUVmax ≥ 6.0 was an independent predictor of poor DFS (HR 2.288, p=0.024) and DSS (HR 4.875, p<0.001). The combination of SUVmax ≥6.0 with CA19.9 ≥200U/ml was significantly associated with survival outcomes in comparison to patients without concordantly elevated values.
Conclusion: SUVmax ≥6.0 is an independent predictor of DFS and DSS in resected PDAC. 18FDG-PET/CT might be considered in the preoperative evaluation of patients with pancreatic cancer.

Background: The present study aimed to investigate the efficacy of positron emission tomography with 18Fluoro-deoxyglucose (FDG-PET/CT) for predicting malignant intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN).
Methods: The records of 88 patients pathologically diagnosed with IPMN after surgery at Ehime University Hospital and Ehime Prefectural Central Hospital from April 2009 to December 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. The patients' characteristics, blood chemistry, and imaging examinations were evaluated as potential predictors of malignant IPMN.

The interest of 18Fluoro-deoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in the management of patients with multiple myeloma (MM) for the workup at diagnosis and for therapeutic evaluation has recently been demonstrated. FDG-PET is a powerful imaging tool for bone lesions detection at initial diagnosis with high sensitivity and specificity values. The independent pejorative prognostic value on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) of baseline PET-derived parameters (presence of extra-medullary disease (EMD), number of focal bone lesions (FLs), and maximum standardized uptake values [SUV]) has been reported in several large independent prospective studies.

Prognosis has not been known for patients with fever of unknown origin (FUO) whose ¹⁸fluoro-deoxyglucose (¹⁸F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT) finding is non-diagnostic. A total of eight patients with FUO that underwent ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT were retrospectively identified January 2016 - June 2017 in a tertiary hospital in Korea. Of these, two patients were diagnosed with microscopic polyangitis and Kikuchi's disease and one patient was transferred to another hospital.

Methods: 16 patients with histologically proven laryngeal cancer were enrolled and underwent whole body PET/CT followed by a dedicated PET/MRI of the head/neck region.
