Article Abstract

Velocity map imaging (VMI) data and mass resolved REMPI spectra are complementarily utilized to elucidate the involvement of homogeneous multistate interactions in excited state dynamics of HBr. The HΣ(v' = 0) and EΣ(v' = 1) Rydberg states and the VΣ(v'= m + 7) and VΣ(v'= m + 8) ion-pair states are explored as a function of rotational quantum number in the two-photon excitation region of 79 100-80 700 cm. H and Br images were recorded by one- as well as two-color excitation schemes. Kinetic energy release (KER) spectra and angular distributions were extracted from the data. Strong-to-medium interactions between the E(1) and V(m + 8)/V(m + 7) states on one hand and the H(0) and V(m + 7)/V(m + 8) states on the other hand were quantified from peak shifts and intensity analysis of REMPI spectra. The effects of those interactions on subsequent photoionization and photolytic pathways of HBr were evaluated in one-color VMI experiments of the H and two-color VMI experiments of the Br photoproducts.

Multistate Markov models are a canonical parametric approach for data modeling of observed or latent stochastic processes supported on a finite state space. Continuous-time Markov processes describe data that are observed irregularly over time, as is often the case in longitudinal medical data, for example. Assuming that a continuous-time Markov process is time-homogeneous, a closed-form likelihood function can be derived from the Kolmogorov forward equations - a system of differential equations with a well-known matrix-exponential solution.

The global HIV/AIDS pandemic remains a profound public health challenge, with substantial impacts on mortality and morbidity worldwide. In Ghana, where HIV prevalence persists, understanding disease progression among patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) is crucial. This study, conducted in the Ashanti Region, employs a 5-state continuous-time Markov multistate model to analyze HIV progression based on CD4 cell counts, employing tuberculosis (TB) coinfection as a covariate.

Converging evidence indicates that the heterogeneity of cognitive profiles may arise through detectable alternations in brain functional connectivity. Despite an unprecedented opportunity to uncover neurobiological subtypes through clustering or subtyping analyses on multi-state functional connectivity, few existing approaches are applicable to accommodate the network topology and unique biological architecture. To address this issue, we propose an innovative Bayesian nonparametric network-variate clustering analysis to uncover subgroups of individuals with homogeneous brain functional network patterns under multiple cognitive states.

Understanding the dynamics of movements between different demographic events is essential for informing effective population management strategies. This study aims to characterize the trajectories of demographic and other vital events within the Nairobi Urban Health and Demographic Surveillance System (NUHDSS). Thus, it intends to unravel patterns and trends that can guide the development of targeted policies and interventions to address the population's evolving needs.

Article Synopsis
  • Most current risk equations for predicting diabetic kidney disease (DKD) are based on outdated data from mostly Caucasian populations, prompting the need to adapt these models using real-world data from Taiwanese type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients.
  • The study evaluated three simulation models (UKPDS-OM2, RECODe, and CHIME) for their ability to predict DKD progression, with results indicating that while some showed moderate discrimination, they often underestimated or overestimated risks.
  • After recalibrating the equations, the updated RECODe for micro- and macroalbuminuria and the CHIME for renal failure exhibited improved predictions, making them suitable for use in a multi-state
