Dural tears are a well-known complication of spinal surgery. While most occur intraoperatively and are promptly identified, some are overlooked or develop postoperatively. Delayed-onset dural tears are relatively rare but can result in significant neurological complications, including cauda equina syndrome (CES).

Hospital-based clinicians have seen a progressive increase in complications following cosmetic treatments. A challenging late complication of soft tissue filler treatments is granuloma formation. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons have a key role in the discussion around this delayed-onset complication.

DONs can be inflammatory, granulomatous, or infectious. Infectious nodules are a significant concern for aesthetic providers due to the development of biofilms, and understanding the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of DONs is essential for clinicians to minimize risks and optimize patient outcomes.

Although systemic absorption of medications following intracavernosal administration may occur, high-dose intracavernosal phenylephrine has been reported to be safe and effective in treating priapism with a rare incidence of morbidity or significant haemodynamic changes. We describe a 68-year-old man who underwent ambulatory penile plication with intra-operative intracavernosal phenylephrine injection, which led to hypertensive emergency 90 min postoperatively.

Background: No studies in Japan have investigated delayed-onset inflammatory nodules as an adverse event following hyaluronic acid (HA) injections. Our institution, located in a rural area with no nearby aesthetic clinics, allows for comprehensive follow-up of HA-treated patients. This study analyzed complications from 673 cases over 6 years, focusing on delayed-onset inflammatory nodules.
