Article Abstract

The introduction of spectral CT imaging in the form of fast clinical dual-energy CT enabled contrast material to be differentiated from other radiodense materials, improved lesion detection in contrast-enhanced scans, and changed the way that existing iodine and barium contrast materials are used in clinical practice. More profoundly, spectral CT can differentiate between individual contrast materials that have different reporter elements such that high-resolution CT imaging of multiple contrast agents can be obtained in a single pass of the CT scanner. These spectral CT capabilities would be even more impactful with the development of contrast materials designed to complement the existing clinical iodine- and barium-based agents. New biocompatible high-atomic number contrast materials with different biodistribution and X-ray attenuation properties than existing agents will expand the diagnostic power of spectral CT imaging without penalties in radiation dose or scan time.

Picric Acid Removal from Water Using an Anion-Coordination-Based Supramolecular Organic Framework.

J Am Chem Soc

September 2025

Key Laboratory of Catalysis and Energy Materials Chemistry of Ministry of Education & Hubei Key Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials Science, South-Central Minzu University, Wuhan 430074, China.

In contrast to metal ions that have been routinely used to construct metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), anions have rarely been used as essential coordination centers in supramolecular organic frameworks (SOFs). In this work, we present a SOF, , based on the coordination of chloride anions and a flexible oligopyrrole. Owing to the multiple interactions between individual oligopyrrole molecules and an A-B-C-style stacking of the 2D honeycomb layers, crystalline exhibits reasonable thermal stability and retains its structure upon desolvation.

The iron-based high-[Formula: see text] superconductors (SCs) exhibit rich phase diagrams with intertwined phases, including magnetism, nematicity, and superconductivity. The superconducting [Formula: see text] in many of these materials is maximized in the regime of strong nematic fluctuations, making the role of nematicity in influencing the superconductivity a topic of intense research. Here, we use the AC elastocaloric effect (ECE) to map out the phase diagram of Ba(FeCo)As near optimal doping.

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) affects millions of individuals worldwide and has no known curative treatment, making it a serious global health concern. The management of its development depends on early discovery, and X-ray imaging is a fundamental diagnostic technique. However, due to variations in radiologists' levels of experience, manual X-ray interpretation increases variability and possible inaccuracies.

Explainable Machine Learning for Estimating the Contrast Material Arrival Time in Computed Tomography Pulmonary Angiography.

J Thorac Imaging

September 2025

Department of Radiology, the Affiliated Wuxi People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Wuxi People's Hospital, Wuxi Medical Center, Nanjing Medical University.

Purpose: To establish an explainable machine learning (ML) approach using patient-related and noncontrast chest CT-derived features to predict the contrast material arrival time (TARR) in CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA).

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive patients referred for CTPA between September 2023 to October 2024. Sixteen clinical and 17 chest CT-derived parameters were used as inputs for the ML approach, which employed recursive feature elimination for feature selection and XGBoost with SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) for explainable modeling.
