Article Abstract

Objective: To assess the performance of a simple correction method for nutritional status estimates in children under five years of age when exact age is not available from the data.

Materials And Methods: The proposed method was based on the assumption of symmetry of age distributions within a given month of age and validated in a large population-based survey sample of Mexican preschool children.

Results: The main distributional assumption was consistent with the data. All prevalence estimates derived from the correction method showed no statistically significant bias. In contrast, failing to correct attained age resulted in an underestimation of stunting in general and an overestimation of overweight or obesity among the youngest.

Conclusions: The proposed method performed remarkably well in terms of bias correction of estimates and could be easily applied in situations in which either birth or interview dates are not available from the data.

Single-arm control trials are increasingly proposed as a potential approach for treatment evaluation. However, the limitations of this design restrict its methodological acceptability. Regulatory agencies have raised concerns about this approach, although it is sometimes required in applications based solely on such studies.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality; patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are at particularly high risk, highlighting the need for reliable biomarkers for early detection and risk stratification. We investigated whether combining the stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) improves CHD detection in T2DM. In this retrospective cohort of 943 T2DM patients undergoing coronary angiography, associations of SHR and SIRI with CHD were evaluated using multivariable logistic regression and restricted cubic splines; robustness was examined with subgroup and sensitivity analyses.

Evaluation of the accuracy of ChatGPT in answering asthma-related questions.

J Bras Pneumol

September 2025

. Divisão de Pneumologia, Escola Paulista de Medicina, Universidade Federal de São Paulo, São Paulo (SP) Brasil.

Objective: To evaluate the quality of ChatGPT answers to asthma-related questions, as assessed from the perspectives of asthma specialists and laypersons.

Methods: Seven asthma-related questions were asked to ChatGPT (version 4) between May 3, 2024 and May 4, 2024. The questions were standardized with no memory of previous conversations to avoid bias.
