Objectives: Evaluating the long-term outcome of the surgical management for intestinal strictures developing after necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
Patients And Methods: This is a retrospective study of all patients with an intestinal stricture after completion of conservative management for NEC. They were treated during the eight years period from 1st January 2008 to 31st December 2015.
Results: During the study period 67 infants had an operation for NEC, of which 55 had emergency surgery. The remaining twelve infants (6 males) had a stricture and were included in the study group. Their median gestational age was 35 (range 27-40) weeks and the median weight was 2180 (range 770 - 3290) g. The onset of NEC was seen at a median of 2 (range 1- 47) days. The median peak C-reactive protein (CRP) level was 73.1 (range 25.2 - 232) mg/dl. Isolated strictures were seen in 9 (75%) patients. Two-third of all strictures (n=15) were located in the colon. Surgery was done at a median of 5 (range 3 - 13) weeks after diagnosing NEC. Primary anastomosis was the procedure of choice; only one needed a temporary colostomy. This cohort had no mortality during a median follow up of 6.25 (range 0.5 - 7.6) years, whilst the overall death rate for NEC was 15 (22 %). Two fifth of the group developed a neurological / sensory impairment.
Conclusion: One fifth of the surgical workload for NEC is related to post-NEC strictures. Most strictures are located in the colonic region. In the long-term no mortality and no surgical co-morbidities were observed.

Purpose: Crohn's disease (CD) is characterized by enteric inflammation, often resulting in strictures and penetrating complications, which may alter patient management prior to the initiation of biologic therapy. Our aim is to assess the frequency of missed stricturing and internal penetrating complications in CD patients on computed tomography enterography (CTE) and magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) performed prior to anti-TNF therapy.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients from two tertiary centers who underwent CTE\MRE within six months before starting anti-TNF therapy.

Objective: To evaluate diagnostic significance of IL-6 compared to CRP for early detection of anastomotic leakage after colon resection for colorectal cancer.
Material And Methods: The study included 277 patients who underwent total resection for colorectal cancer. Patients were retrospectively divided into three groups: without complications (=227), with anastomotic leakage (=30), and other postoperative complications (=20).
The present investigation elucidates the therapeutic potential of glycyrrhizin, the predominant triterpene saponin isolated from (licorice), in the management of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disorder characterized by multisystemic involvement and therapeutic recalcitrance. Comprehensive interrogation of multiple disease-specific databases facilitated the identification of crucial SLE-associated molecular targets and hub genes, with MAPK1, MAPK3, TP53, JUN, and JAK2 demonstrating the highest degree of network centrality. Subsequent molecular docking simulations and binding affinity assessments revealed compounds with exceptional complementarity to these pivotal molecular targets, establishing as a pharmacologically promising botanical source and glycyrrhizin as its principal bioactive constituent meriting comprehensive mechanistic investigation.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is the most devastating disease and it necessitates therapeutic intervention for its effective management. Human Glucagon-like peptide-1 (HuGLP-1) is the potential candidate in the treatment of T2DM; however, it limits its utilization owing to its solubility and stability issues.
Aims: The current investigation aims to develop HuGLP-1-loaded bilosomes as a novel strategy for managing T2DM.

Objective: The key molecular events signifying the -induced gastric carcinogenesis process are largely unknown.
Methods: Bulk tissue-proteomics profiling were leveraged across multi-stage gastric lesions from Linqu ( = 166) and Beijing sets ( = 99) and single-cell transcriptomic profiling ( = 18) to decipher key molecular signatures of -related gastric lesion progression and gastric cancer (GC) development. The association of key proteins association with gastric lesion progression and GC development were prospectively studied building on follow-up of the Linqu set and UK Biobank ( = 48,529).
