Article Abstract

Respiratory involvement in Crohn disease (CD) is rare condition with only about a dozen reported cases. We report the first case of CD with tracheal involvement in Korea. An 18-year-old woman with CD was hospitalized because of coughing, dyspnea, and fever sustained for 3 weeks. Because she had stridor in her neck, we performed computed tomography of the neck, which showed circumferential wall thickening of the larynx and hypopharynx. Bronchoscopy revealed mucosal irregularity, ulceration, and exudates debris in the proximal trachea, and bronchial biopsy revealed chronic inflammation with granulation tissue. Based on these findings, we suspected CD with tracheal involvement and began administering intravenous methylprednisolone at 1 mg/kg per day, after which her symptoms and bronchoscopic findings improved.

Awake tracheal intubation (ATI) is a crucial technique for difficult airway management, particularly in patients with obesity, restricted neck movement, or upper airway abnormalities. Despite its efficacy, ATI is often avoided because of the technical challenges and stress it imposes on patients and anesthesiologists. We describe a new method, termed "intubation maintaining spontaneous breathing with three nerve blocks technique" (3N technique), which leverages nerve blocks to suppress reflexes, preserve spontaneous breathing, and facilitate smooth intubation.

We present two patients who presented with symptoms that overlap with asthma, but upon further diagnostic evaluation, were revealed to have underlying malignancy. These cases highlight the importance of objective evidence-based evaluation in unveiling diagnoses previously mislabeled as asthma. The first patient was a 51-year-old with one year of cough and waning albuterol responsiveness, with worsening orthopnea and exertional dyspnea.

Introduction: Stroke causes neurological deficits and respiratory dysfunction, with prolonged bed rest exacerbating secondary pulmonary injury. This study evaluated the efficacy of pressure biofeedback training combined with Liuzijue Qigong (LQG) in improving functional outcomes and respiratory function in patients with tracheostomised stroke.

Methods And Analysis: This will be a parallel, single-centre randomised controlled trial involving 66 patients.

Shuguang Hospital Affliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Clinical Research Center, Shanghai 201203, China. Electronic address:

Objectives: To compare the effectiveness of various endotracheal tube (ETT) cuff materials, shapes, and antimicrobial coatings in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) through a network meta-analysis.

Methods: Six databases were searched up to February 2025 for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Data analysis was performed using R software.

Background: A significant contributory factor to the brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome index of bulldogs is the diameter of their tracheas. Bulldogs are predisposed to tracheal hypoplasia. A non-invasive, financially reasonable and widely accessible screening test for tracheal diameter would be useful for assessing the most appropriate dogs to breed from within bulldog populations and may help in predicting results following upper airway surgery.
