Inspired by recent experiments and simulations on pattern formation in biomolecules by optical tweezers, a theoretical description based on the reference interaction site model (RISM) is developed to calculate the equilibrium density profiles of small polyelectrolytes in an external potential. The formalism is applied to the specific case of a finite number of Gaussian and rodlike polyelectrolytes trapped in a harmonic potential. The density profiles of the polyelectrolytes are studied over a range of lengths and numbers of polyelectrolytes in the trap, and the strength of the trap potential. For smaller polymers we recover the results for point charges. In the mean field limit the longer polymers, unlike point charges, form a shell at the boundary layer. When the interpolymer correlations are included, the density profiles of the polymers show sharp shells even at weaker trap strengths. The implications of these results are discussed.

Cardiolipins (CLs) are primarily expressed in the inner mitochondrial membrane where they play essential roles in membrane architecture and mitochondrial functions. CLs have a unique structure characterized by four acyl chains with different stoichiometries such as chain length and degree of saturation. CL composition changes with disease and age, but it is largely unknown how dynamic changes affect mitochondrial function.

There is a lack of longitudinal data on type 2 diabetes (T2D) in low- and middle-income countries. We leveraged the electronic health records (EHR) system of a publicly funded academic institution to establish a retrospective cohort with longitudinal data to facilitate benchmarking, surveillance, and resource planning of a multi-ethnic T2D population in Malaysia. Right ventricular (RV) failure is the primary cause of death among patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Patients with congenital heart disease-associated PAH (CHD-PAH) demonstrate improved outcomes compared to patients with other forms of PAH, which is related to the maintenance of an adaptively hypertrophied RV. In an ovine model of CHD-PAH, we aimed to elucidate the cellular, microvascular, and transcriptional adaptations to congenital pressure overload that support RV function.

We reveal contrasting behaviors in molecular motion between the two materials, including the identification of resonance-enhanced dynamic features in elastomers. We present a depth-resolved analysis of molecular dynamics in semicrystalline polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and fully amorphous fluorinated elastomer (SIFEL) films using static-gradient solid-state F NMR imaging. By measuring spin-lattice relaxation rates ( ) at multiple frequencies and evaluating the corresponding spectral density functions, we reveal distinct dynamic behaviors between the two materials.
