Different animal models have been proposed to investigate the mechanisms of Human T-lymphotropic Virus (HTLV)-induced pathogenesis: rats, transgenic and NOD-SCID/γcnull (NOG) mice, rabbits, squirrel monkeys, baboons and macaques. These systems indeed provide useful information but have intrinsic limitations such as lack of disease relevance, species specificity or inadequate immune response. Another strategy based on a comparative virology approach is to characterize a related pathogen and to speculate on possible shared mechanisms. In this perspective, bovine leukemia virus (BLV), another member of the deltaretrovirus genus, is evolutionary related to HTLV-1. BLV induces lymphoproliferative disorders in ruminants providing useful information on the mechanisms of viral persistence, genetic determinants of pathogenesis and potential novel therapies.

This work aimed to advance the knowledge in the field of eco-friendly dielectrics with applicative relevance for future energy-related technologies. New multicomponent composites were prepared by using a cellulose ether/citric acid mixture as the matrix, which was gradually filled with strontium titanate nanoparticles (5-20 wt%). In this case, citric acid can act as a crosslinking agent for the polymer but also can react differently with the other counterparts from the composite as a function of the solvent used (HO and HO).

Primary hepatic gastrointestinal stromal tumours (PHGISTs) are rare and frequently misdiagnosed due to their atypical presentation and uncertain origin. The purpose of this article is to present the case of a 79-year-old female patient with a gigantic PHGIST characterized by a predominantly cystic nature-an extremely rare presentation, as most cases of PHGIST are solid. Despite extensive imaging and exploratory laparotomy, the primary origin remained uncertain, leading to questioning about whether it was a true primary hepatic GIST or an atypical metastatic lesion.

Background: This study aims to evaluate the stress distribution under occlusal forces by using finite element analysis (FEA) to compare conventional, zygomatic, and differently designed subperiosteal implants (SI) in edentulous atrophic maxilla.
Methods: A 3D model of an edentulous atrophic maxilla was reconstructed from CT scans. Three models were simulated: Model 1 with zygoma and conventional implants, Model 2 with apertura piriformis and subperiosteal implants extending to the zygomaticomaxillary buttress, and Model 3 with apertura piriformis and subperiosteal implants covering the zygomatic buttress.
