In the present investigation, pulsatile release beads were prepared by ionic gelation technique. Lornoxicam dual cross-linked beads were prepared by dropping dispersed phase of lornoxicam, pectin, and sodium alginate into the dispersion phase of different concentrations of calcium chloride solution followed by aluminium chloride solution. The formulated beads were further coated by Eudragit L & S 100 in the ratio 1 : 2 w/w in order to achieve desired lag time. In vitro release study showed lag time of 5-8 h before release of lornoxicam from the formulated beads. Thus, formulated dual cross-linked beads when administered at bed time may release lornoxicam when needed most for chronotherapeutics of early morning rheumatoid arthritis attacks in chronic patients.

For purpose of overcoming the negative impact of high-dose phenols on meat quality, xanthan gum (XG), a natural anionic polysaccharide, was employed to prevent the undesirable interaction between myofibrillar protein (MP) and gallic acid (GA, 150 μmol/g) and ameliorate the gel and emulsification characteristics of MP. XG dose-dependently alleviated the structural damage of MP caused by GA and reduced protein aggregation, manifested as the decrease in surface hydrophobicity, turbidity and aggregate size (p < 0.05) and increase in α-helix content and intrinsic fluorescence.

Pterygium is a common ocular surface lesion, and postoperative recurrence remains a major challenge due to insufficient therapeutic strategies targeting fibroblast proliferation and inflammation. Fibrinogen hydrogel (Fibrin glue, FG), a bioadhesive hydrogel, is widely used in pterygium surgery to secure conjunctival autografts. However, its low adhesion often leads to graft detachment, hindering effective repair.

Background And Purpose: The new Tri-Lock bone -preserving stem with a collarless proximal-coated tapered-wedge design was compared with a classic well-proven collarless proximal-coated long and round-tapered design. Our primary aim was to compare femoral stem fixation (subsidence) of the Tri-Lock stem with the classic Summit stem, and secondarily to compare the change in periprosthetic bone mineral density (BMD) and PROMS between stem groups.
Methods: In a patient-blinded randomized controlled trial, 52 patients at mean age 60 (SD 6) received cementless Tri-Lock (n = 26) or Summit (n = 26) femoral stems with a cementless Pinnacle cup, a cross-linked polyethylene liner, and a CoCr head.

: Despite the continuous development of medicine, the treatment of dermatological fungal infections is difficult due to their chronic nature, recurrence, and resistance of some pathogens to standard therapies. In order to improve the effectiveness of treatment, not only are new active substances with antifungal activity synthesized, but new, unconventional carriers are also developed for substances already used. : Therefore, the focus of this research was to evaluate the possibility of using a combination of two cross-linking techniques for sodium alginate ionic cross-linking with Zn ions and electrostatic interaction with ε-poly-L-lysine.

: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a leading cause of lower back pain with limited regenerative treatments. Among emerging regenerative approaches, growth factor-based therapies, such as recombinant human transforming growth factor-beta (Rh-TGF-β), have shown potential for disc regeneration but are hindered by rapid degradation and uncontrolled release by direct administration. Additionally, mechanical stress elevates heat shock protein 90 (HSP-90), impairing cell function and extracellular matrix (ECM) production.
