Toward universal immunofluorescence normalization for multiplex tissue imaging with UniFORM.

Cell Rep Methods

Department of Biomedical Engineering and Computational Biology Program, OHSU, Portland, OR, USA; Knight Cancer Institute, OHSU, Portland, OR, USA. Electronic address:

We present UniFORM, a non-parametric, Python-based pipeline for normalizing multiplex tissue imaging (MTI) data at both the feature and pixel levels. UniFORM employs an automated rigid landmark registration method tailored to the distributional characteristics of MTI, with UniFORM operating without prior distributional assumptions and handling both unimodal and bimodal patterns. By aligning the biologically invariant negative populations, UniFORM removes technical variation while preserving tissue-specific expression patterns in positive populations.

Objective: Bipolar disorder (BD) diagnoses require episodes of hypomania and mania as well as depressive episodes. Given the overlap of BD symptoms with symptoms of other psychiatric conditions among youth, misdiagnosis is common. This topic was examined in a large sample of youth clinically referred for BD.

Hydroxychloroquine Toxicity with Short Duration of Hydroxychloroquine Use and Unilateral Bull's Eye Maculopathy.

Retin Cases Brief Rep

September 2025

Doheny Eye Institute, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Purpose: To report the examination and multimodal imaging findings of a patient with unilateral bull's eye maculopathy.

Methods: A retrospective chart review of a 77-year-old patient with unilateral bull's eye maculopathy who presented to a tertiary retinal practice was performed. The patient's history, visual acuity, examination and multimodal imaging findings over five years of follow-up were described.

Background: Pathogenic responses against self and foreign antigens in systemic autoimmunity and infection, respectively, engage similar immunologic components, thus lacking distinguishing diagnostic biomarkers. Herein, we tested whether whole-blood transcriptome analysis discriminates autoimmune from infectious diseases.

Methods: We applied nested cross-validation methodology to tune and validate random forests, k-nearest neighbors, and support vector machines, using a new preprocessing method on 22 publicly available datasets, including 594 patients with a broad spectrum of systemic autoimmune diseases and 615 patients with diverse viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections.
