Large-scale epigenome mapping by the NIH Roadmap Epigenomics Project, the ENCODE Consortium and the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC) produces genome-wide DNA methylation data at one base-pair resolution. We examine how such data can be made open-access while balancing appropriate interpretation and genomic privacy. We propose guidelines for data release that both reduce ambiguity in the interpretation of open-access data and limit immediate access to genetic variation data that are made available through controlled access.

Promiscuity, or selectivity on a spectrum, is an encoded feature in biomolecular anion recognition. To unravel the molecular drivers of promiscuous anion recognition, we have employed a comprehensive approach - spanning experiment and theory - with the Staphylococcus carnosus nitrate regulatory element A (ScNreA) as a model. Thermodynamic analysis reveals that ScNreA complexation with native nitrate and nitrite or non-native iodide is an exothermic process.

Ras small GTPases are essential for a wide range of cellular processes. These proteins cycle between the GDP-loaded and GTP-loaded states, and the actions of GTPase activating proteins (GAPs) are necessary to stimulate Ras-mediated GTP hydrolysis. Here, we provide a protocol to achieve Michaelis-Menten kinetic profiling of GAP-mediated stimulation of a small GTPase by real-time monitoring of inorganic phosphate release in vitro.

Introduction: Microencapsulated pyraclostrobin (PYR-CS) has gained widespread adoption in agriculture owing to its extended efficacy and reduced risks for non-target organisms. However, knowledge remains limited regarding its degradation in soil and effects on soil microorganisms.
Objectives: This study investigates the hypothesis that microencapsulation alters pyraclostrobin degradation and reshapes soil microbial communities compared with conventional formulations, including emulsifiable concentrate (PYR-EC) and technical material (PYR-TC).
