In animal populations, as in humans, behavioural differences between individuals that are consistent over time and across contexts are considered to reflect personality, and suites of correlated behaviours expressed by individuals are known as behavioural syndromes. Lifelong stability of behavioural syndromes is often assumed, either implicitly or explicitly. Here, we use a quantitative genetic approach to study the developmental stability of a behavioural syndrome in a wild population of blue tits. We find that a behavioural syndrome formed by a strong genetic correlation of two personality traits in nestlings disappears in adults, and we demonstrate that genotype-age interaction is the likely mechanism underlying this change during development. A behavioural syndrome may hence change during organismal development, even when personality traits seem to be strongly physiologically or functionally linked in one age group. We outline how such developmental plasticity has important ramifications for understanding the mechanistic basis as well as the evolutionary consequences of behavioural syndromes.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is characterized by excessive worry and physical symptoms of prolonged anxiety. Patients with subclinical GAD-states (sub-GAD) do not fulfill the diagnostic criteria of GAD, but they often show a disease burden similar to GAD, and the subclinical state may turn into a full syndrome. Neuroinflammation may contribute to changes in brain structures in sub-GAD, but direct evidence remains lacking.

Background And Aims: Cold weather is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events, but its impact on culprit plaque characteristics in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remains unclear.
Methods: This study included 647 STEMI patients who underwent optical coherence tomography (OCT) to assess untreated culprit lesions. Participants were grouped based on ambient temperature on the day of admission or mean ambient temperatures over the preceding 7-, 14-, 21-, and 28-day periods.

Mutations in the UBE3A gene are responsible for neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), including Angelman syndrome (AS), which is characterized by developmental delays, impaired motor coordination, and cognitive disabilities. In recent years, UBE3A mutations have also been linked to autism spectrum disorders (ASD), due to their significant role in synaptic plasticity and cognitive function. Although substantial research has utilized mammalian models, the zebrafish (Danio rerio) provides unique opportunities to investigate gene functions owing to their transparent embryos, rapid development, and suitability for large-scale genetic and behavioral studies.
