Polarizer-free high contrast-ratio organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are explored with a structure involving a semi-reflective Cr-based bottom electrode and a dielectric-capped thin Ag top electrode. Their efficiency is shown to be improved significantly with little sacrifice in luminous reflectance by adopting low-refractive-index injection layers that can increase the effective reflectance from the bottom electrode and simultaneously reduce the loss owing to surface plasmon polariton modes. OLEDs employing a low-refractive-index injection layer exhibit improved current efficiency by up to ca. 27.4% than those using index-matched injection layers, with luminous reflectance maintained at as low as 4%.

Background: Necklines are a common complaint in patients as they are a sign of aging. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are widely used to address volume loss and linear depressions. HA fillers are safe, effective, and versatile, but their use for necklines is not well-documented in the literature.

Rationale: Prolapsed hemorrhoids can impair quality of life due to associated symptoms such as pain. While hemorrhoidectomy is considered the gold standard for treating prolapsed hemorrhoids, this procedure inevitably involves complications such as postoperative pain, bleeding, and delayed recovery. Therefore, there is an increasing need for treatment options that are immediate, effective, and minimally invasive, while also taking into account patients' physical and social backgrounds, preferences, and values.

Unlabelled: Automated analysis of optical coherence tomography (OCT) biomarkers improves the prediction of results of loading anti-VEGF therapy of vascular pigment epithelial detachment (PED) associated with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).
Objective: This study evaluated the effectiveness of OCT biomarker analysis algorithm in predicting the anatomical outcomes of loading anti-VEGF therapy for vascular PED in nAMD.
Material And Methods: OCT scans performed prior to loading anti-VEGF therapy were analyzed using the algorithm in 69 treatment-naïve nAMD patients (70 eyes) with vascular PED exceeding 200 µm in height.

Introduction: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of vision loss in older adults, with limited effective treatments available. This study aimed to investigate the pharmacological effects of dihydromyricetin (DHM) on AMD and to identify its putative pharmacological targets through network analysis and molecular docking approaches.
Methods: experiments established an AMD model using sodium iodate (SI)-induced ARPE-19 cells, with CCK-8 assays determining 15 mM SI as the optimal modeling concentration and 100 μM DHM as the optimal treatment concentration.

Mesoporous metal nanomaterials (MMNs) have gained interest in biomedicine for their unique properties, but their potential is limited by the predominance of spherical shapes and the neglect of morphological effects on biological activity, which hinders the reasonable evaluation of morphology-dependent enzyme-like activities and biological behaviors and its further biomedical applications. It is therefore imperative to find an effective and facile method to design and prepare MMNs with novel, well-defined morphologies. Herein, we fabricated 3 mesoporous platinum nanoenzymes including sphere, rod, and bipyramid topologies [Au@mesoPt sphere, Au@mesoPt rod, and Au@mesoPt bipyramid nanoparticles (NPs), respectively] via a facile atomic layer deposition method using gold NPs (Au NPs) as the templated cores and Pluronic F127 as a structure-directing agent.
