Article Abstract

A stereocontrolled approach for the construction of a highly functionalized bicyclo[3.2.0]heptane derivative embodying the bridged lactone present in the diterpene bielschowskysin is reported. The key step involves a stereoselective Cu(I)-catalyzed [2 + 2] photocycloaddition of a 1,6-diene embedded in a sugar derivative.

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a large DNA virus that causes a highly lethal disease in pigs and currently has no effective vaccines or antiviral treatments available. We designed a protein switch that combines the DNase domain of colicin E9 (DNase E9) and its inhibitor Im9 with the viral protease cleavage site. The complex is only destroyed in the presence of an ASFV pS273R protease, which releases DNase activity.

Perylenediimide-Based Donor-Acceptor MOF for Sunlight-Driven Photocatalytic -α-C(sp)-H Bond Functionalization of Tetrahydroisoquinoline.

Sequential assembly of donor-acceptor components at the molecular level within a MOF is an effective strategy to achieve efficient electron-hole separation for enhancing the activity of photocatalysts. Meanwhile, the highly efficient and selective functionalization of tetrahydroisoquinoline (THIQ) under mild conditions remains an urgent demand in both the scientific and industrial communities. This work reports a donor-acceptor MOF photocatalyst () constructed by the coordinated assembly of donor and acceptor components, in which a naphthalene unit serves as an electron donor and a perylenediimide unit as an electron acceptor.

This study demonstrates the successful fabrication of nanostructured Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films combining the conjugated copolymer poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene--3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PDOF--PEDOT) with spherical and triangular silver nanoparticles (AgNP). The LB technique allowed precise control over the molecular arrangement and distribution of the nanoparticles at the air-water interface, resulting in compact, reproducible and structurally ordered nanocomposite films. The structural and morphological properties of the interfacial monolayers and LB films were investigated using surface pressure-area isotherms, Brewster angle microscopy, polarization modulation infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy (PM-IRRAS) and quartz crystal microbalance.

Effective degradation and detoxification of the highly toxic organophosphate pesticide methyl parathion (MP) are important for pollution treatment and sustainable development. Enzymatic hydrolysis of MP by organophosphate hydrolase (OPH) is an effective way. However, hydrolytic product 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) remains environmentally hazardous.

Background: Financial hardship (including financial stress, financial strain, asset depletion, and financial toxicity) is a highly relevant construct among the 6.9 million people living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) in the United States and their family networks. This scoping review will identify existing measures and approaches for capturing financial strain among these families.
