Article Abstract

A novel single-phase full-color phosphor CaZr4(PO4)6:Dy(3+) has been synthesized by a high-temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis and FT-IR spectra confirmed the phase formation of CaZr4(PO4)6:Dy(3+) materials. The photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra, the concentration dependence of the emission intensity, decay curves, ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy and Commission International de I(')Eclairage (CIE) of the phosphor were investigated. The results showed that the phosphor could be efficiently excited by the near ultraviolet (NUV) light region from 340 to 440 nm, and it exhibited blue (487 nm) and yellow (577 nm) emission corresponding to (4)F9/2→(6)H15/2 transitions and (4)F9/2→(6)H13/2 transitions, respectively. The luminescence intensity of Ca(1-x)Zr4(PO4)6:xDy(3+) phosphor firstly increased and then decreased with increasing Dy(3+) concentration, and reached the maximum at x=0.04. The band gap energy of CaZr4(PO4)6 and Ca0.96Zr4(PO4)6:0.04Dy(3+) are about 4.184 eV from the diffuse reflection spectrum. The decay time was also determined for various concentrations of Dy(3+) in CaZr4(PO4)6. The calculated color coordinates lies in the blue white region. Therefore, these obtained results suggest that the prepared phosphors exhibit great potential for use as single-phase full-color phosphor for near ultraviolet white light emitting diodes (NUV WLEDs).

We propose a novel method to construct an optical see-through retinal-projection near-eye display using the Maxwellian view and a holographic method. To provide a dynamic full-color virtual image, a single phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM) was employed in conjunction with a multiplexing-encoding holographic method. Holographic virtual images can be directly projected onto the retina using an optical see-through eyepiece.

Single-Layer Metasurface with Controllable Multiwavelength Functions.

In this paper, we report dispersion-engineered metasurfaces with distinct functionalities controlled by wavelength. Unlike previous approaches based on spatial multiplexing or vertical stacking of metasurfaces, we utilize a single phase profile with wavelength dependence encoded in the phase shifters' dispersion. We designed and fabricated a multiwavelength achromatic metalens (MAM) with achromatic focusing for blue (B), green (G), yellow (Y), and red (R) light and two wavelength-controlled beam generators (WCBG): one focuses light with orbital angular momentum (OAM) states ( l = 0,1,2) corresponding to three primary colors; the other produces ordinary focal spots ( l = 0) for red and green light, while generating a vortex beam ( l = 1) in the blue.

Beijing Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Functional Materials & Micro-Nano Devices, Department of Physics, Renmin University of China, Beijing 100872, China.

Two series of phosphors of CaMgSc(PO):Dy and SrMgSc(PO):Dy single-phase white-emitting phosphors with high thermal emission stability are synthesized by the high-temperature solid-state reaction. The crystal structure, photoluminescence (PL), PL excitation (PLE), and thermal PL quenching spectra of CaMgSc(PO):xDy and SrMgSc(PO):xDy were investigated and compared in detail. Upon excitation at 387 nm, MMgSc(PO):xDy (M = Ca/Sr) showed white emission centered at 480, 571, 660, and 754 nm.

This work presents color holographic display, which is based on a single phase only spatial light modulator (SLM). In the display entire area of the SLM is illuminated by an on-axis white light beam generated by a single large LED. The holographic display fully utilizes SLM bandwidth and has capability of full-color, full frame rate imaging of outstanding quality.
