Article Abstract

We report on an all-fiber system delivering more than 100 μJ pulses with a top-hat beam output in the few nanoseconds regime at 10 kHz. The linearly polarized flattened beam is obtained thanks to a 3-mm-long single-mode microstructured fiber spliced to the amplifier's output.

Recent research has explored the use of non-Gaussian beams, such as ring-shaped pump beams, in end-pumped solid-state lasers to reduce thermal lensing effects. Theoretical studies indicate that the thermal lens is not constant but varies with the radial coordinate , and can be modeled with two or three components depending on the pumping beam profile, top-hat or ring-shaped. This paper introduces a new, to our knowledge, single-component expression for the thermal lens, derived from the mean value and standard deviation, which is applicable to various pump beam shapes.

Infrared matrix-assisted laser desorption electrospray ionization (IR-MALDESI) uses an infrared laser to desorb neutral biomolecules with postionization via ESI at atmospheric pressure. The Gaussian profile of the laser with conventional optics results in the heating of adjacent nonablated tissue due to the energy profile being circular. A diffractive optical element (DOE) was incorporated into the optical train to correct for this disadvantage.

Simple and robust 3D MINFLUX excitation with a variable phase plate.

MINFLUX has achieved extraordinary resolution in superresolution imaging and single fluorophore tracking.
