The ability to navigate through one's environment is crucial for maintaining independence in daily life and depends on complex cognitive and motor functions that are vulnerable to decline in persons with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). While previous research suggests a role for mobility in the physical act of navigation, it remains unclear to what extent mobility impairment and perceptions of mobility constraints may modify wayfinding and the recall of environment details in support of successful navigation. Therefore, this study examined the relations among clinical mobility function, concern about falling, and recall of environment details in a clinical sample of MS.

Purpose: This exploratory study examined if hearing handicap in older adults affected listening-related fatigue during health care interactions and explored whether different face mask types worn during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic influenced this association.

Method: A cross-sectional observational study among community-dwelling adults aged 60 years and older receiving care at an academic health care system outpatient audiology or otolaryngology clinics was conducted. Eligible participants completed and returned a mail-in self-reported packet including the Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly (Screener Version; HHIE-S) and the 10-item Vanderbilt Fatigue Scale for Adults (VFS-A-10).

Rationale: Inflammation is central to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) pathogenesis but incompletely represented in COPD prognostic models. Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a readily available inflammatory biomarker.

Objectives: To explore the associations of NLR with smoking status, clinical features of COPD, and future adverse outcomes.

Microsporidia causes opportunistic infections in immunosuppressed individuals. Mammals shed these spores of fungi in feces, urine, or respiratory secretions, which could contaminate water and food, thereby reaching the human body and causing infection. The oral route is the most common route of infection, although experiments have demonstrated that intraperitoneal and intravenous routes may also spread infection.

Background: Maternal childhood maltreatment has been associated with higher risk of adverse neurodevelopment in offspring. Chronic systemic inflammation has been associated with childhood maltreatment and has been identified as a gestational risk factor for adverse neurodevelopment in offspring. Thus, inflammation may be a mechanism by which maternal exposure to maltreatment affects offspring neurodevelopment.
