Introduction: There is limited evidence regarding clinical research priorities in emergency medicine outside of some special interest groups. The ACEM Clinical Trials Group undertook a consensus meeting with the aim of developing a reproducible weighting matrix for assessing clinical research priorities.
Methods: A session at the ACEM annual scientific meeting was dedicated to this meeting. Results from a survey of the ACEM researcher database were presented, along with a proposed weighting matrix. After discussion and adjustment, consensus was achieved on the matrix.
Results: It was agreed that the following criteria be used in the matrix: research category and sub-category priority ranking from the ACEM researcher database survey, frequency of presentation of potentially eligible participants, the level of pre-existing evidence regarding the proposed research question and the likely clinical impact of the research. Each criterion was given a weighting, with clinical impact given the heaviest weighting. The weighting matrix was subsequently applied to the list of research questions that resulted from the researcher database survey and a list of research priorities determined.
Conclusion: The weighting matrix allows reproducible comparison of research questions. The resultant list of research priorities will act as a guide for the ACEM Clinical Trials Group in determining future projects.

Poly(γ-stearyl-l-glutamate) (PSLG) is a semiflexible synthetic polypeptide that forms both thermotropic and lyotropic liquid crystal (LC) phases. We previously showed that spherical nanoparticles (NPs) decorated with another semiflexible helical polymer, poly(hexyl isocyanate), form lyotropic nematic rather than cubic LC phases. In this work, PSLG ligands for functionalizing 4 nm ZrO NPs were prepared via N-carboxyanhydride ring-opening polymerization.

Purpose: The combination of multi-layer flat panel detector (FPDT) X-ray imaging and physics-based material decomposition algorithms allows for the removal of anatomical structures. However, the reliability of these algorithms may be compromised by unaccounted materials or scattered radiation.
Approach: We investigated the two-material decomposition performance of a multi-layer FPDT in the context of 2D chest radiography without and with a 13:1 anti-scatter grid employed.

Dent disease is a rare X-linked recessive inherited renal tubular disorder characterized by low molecular weight proteinuria (LMWP), hypercalciuria, nephrocalcinosis, and other clinical features, and can lead to progressive renal failure. It is primarily caused by mutations in the gene. Objective: To evaluate whether pretreatment strategies targeting the extracellular matrix (ECM), such as DNase I and low-frequency ultrasound, enhance the efficacy of successive antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) against Candida albicans biofilms and to assess the effects on biofilm components.
Methods: Forty-eight-hour C. albicans (ATCC 90028) biofilms were treated under four conditions: (I) aPDT [Photodithazine (PDZ) (25 mg/L) for 20 min + Light-Emitting Diode (LED) (660 nm, 18 J/cm²)], (II) DNase+aPDT [5 min with 20 U/mL DNase I before aPDT], (III) sonication+aPDT [7 W, 170-190 J before aPDT], (IV) Dn+So+aPDT.
