The submerged cultivating conditions for triterpenoids production from Antrodia cinnamomea were optimized using uniform design method and the one-factor-at-a-time method was adopted to investigate the effect of plants oils and glucose supply on triterpenoids production and mycelia growth. Corn starch and culturing time were identified as more significant variables for triterpenoids production. The optimal conditions for triterpenoids production was 20.0 g/L corn starch, 20.0 g/L wheat bran, 1.85 g/L MgSO4, initial pH 3 and 16 days of cultivation. In addition, investigation of plant oils and glucose supply showed that 0.3 % (v/v) olive oil supply at the beginning of fermentation stimulated mycelia growth and significantly increased triterpenoids production; 0.2 % (w/v) glucose supplement at 10th day enhanced production of triterpenoids with slight effect on biomass, which is reported for the first time. The triterpenoids production experimentally obtained under the optimal conditions was 7.23 % (w/w). The uniform design method may be used to optimize many environmental and genetic factors such as temperature and agitation that can also affect the triterpenoids production from A. cinnamomea.

Lemon balm (), a perennial herb belonging to the Lamiaceae family, is widely recognized for its medicinal properties and therapeutic benefits. This review offers a detailed exploration of the botanical features, phytochemical composition, and pharmacological uses of , highlighting key bioactive compounds such as phenolic acids (including rosmarinic and caffeic acids), flavonoids, essential oils (such as citral and citronellal), and triterpenoids (ursolic and oleanolic acids). Advanced extraction techniques, such as ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), pressurized liquid extraction (PLE), supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), and matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD), have greatly improved the efficiency of extraction, the preservation of bioactivity, and the sustainability of acquiring these bioactive compounds.

The demand for natural sweeteners as alternatives to sucrose is growing rapidly, driving research into enzymatic bioconversion methods for more efficient production. Glycyrrhizin (GL) is approximately 190 times sweeter than sucrose, but its excessive consumption has been linked to adverse health effects. Its hydrolysis yields glycyrrhetic acid 3-O-mono-β-D-glucuronide (GAMG), a compound nearly 1000 times sweeter than sucrose and with improved sensory and solubility properties.

The effect of feeding Hermetia illucens larvae (black soldier fly, BSFL) with by-products from olive oil (dry olive leaves, OL; full-fat dry olive pomace, OP) or quinoa (quinoa husk, QH) on the bioaccumulation of bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity of the meals was evaluated. Diets were formulated with different percentages of inclusion (OL15, OL30, OL50; OP30, OP50, OP70, OP90; QH15, QH30, QH50). Antioxidant activity (DPPH and ABTS methods), total phenolic compounds (TPC), targeted bioactive compounds analysis, and estimation of efficiency of bioaccumulation (EB) were performed, and compared to the experimental substrates.

Cycloastragenol (CA), the triterpenoid aglycone of astragaloside (ASI), is a telomerase activator and potential anti-aging drug with broad application prospects. Due to the rapid increase of its market demand in recent years, efficient production of CA has attracted increasing attention. In this study, the novel β-xylosidase XylO2 from Aspergillus aculeatus was identified through genome mining.

Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is a critical contributor of renal fibrosis in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Asiatic acid (AA), a natural triterpenoid compound, exhibits notable endothelial protective and anti-fibrotic properties; however, its impact on EndMT in DKD remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effect of AA against EndMT in DKD and the underlying mechanisms.
