Article Abstract

A novel synthetic route to the hexacyclic system of trigonoliimine A was accomplished in four steps from N-phthaloyl 6-OMe-tryptamine. Key reactions include a three-component Strecker-type reaction to fashion the two C-N bonds in the D ring and a subsequent Houben-Hoesch type cyclization to deliver the characteristic seven-membered C ring.

Background: In hyponatremic patients, concurrent dialysate flow during hemodialysis may be an ideal option to mitigate complications such as osmotic demyelination syndrome (ODS).

Methods: Present randomized controlled trial enrolled dialysis-requiring chronic kidney disease (CKD) and acute kidney injury (AKI) patients with serum sodium levels < 125 mEq/L during January 2020 over 16 months. Hemodynamically unstable patients, as well as those with a history of seizures and neurological conditions, were excluded.

The global emergence of SARS-CoV-2 has highlighted the need for rapid, sensitive, and affordable diagnostic tools, not only for human health but also for animal surveillance within a One Health framework. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of a SYBR Green-based real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 from animal samples, focusing on domestic dogs and cats. A total of 140 oropharyngeal swab samples were collected and analyzed using primers targeting a 139-bp fragment of the N gene of SARS-CoV-2.

Zero-valent bismuth (Bi) nanospheres with a hollow structure were synthesized via a polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-assisted solvothermal method and applied as efficient photocatalysts for the sacrificial-agent-free photoreduction of bromate (BrO) under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. The optimized Bi-0.6 catalyst exhibited a narrowed band gap and enhanced charge separation efficiency, achieving 99.

Background: Endometriosis diagnosis is challenging due to non-specific symptoms that overlap with other gynaecological conditions. This study proposes a non-invasive Machine Learning (ML) ‒ based urine test using Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy for rapid, high-throughput screening.

Methods: A total of 302 symptomatic patients presenting with pelvic pain and MRI referral indications were recruited.

This study investigates the bioavailability of humic nitrogen (humic-N) to algae through controlled bioassay experiments. Algae were able to utilize dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) from both humic acid (HA) and fulvic acid (FA), with bacterial co-culture enhancing uptake. Bioavailable nitrogen (BAN) from HA accounted for ~20 % of total nitrogen, whereas FA reached ~45 %, with bacterial presence further increasing FA utilization by about 6-7 %.
