Background And Objective: There is evidence of the relevance of fear, anxiety and avoidance of activity in the maintenance of pain in fibromyalgia. Recently, an opposite pattern based on the persistence in activity has been described. To date, the cognitions that impede modifying this pattern are unknown. Therefore, the aim of this study is to reach consensus on the content of an instrument that assesses those cognitions.
Material And Methods: A Delphi method was applied to reach consensus on the content of the Clinic Scale of Persistence in Activity in Fibromyalgia (CCAP-FM).
Results: After three rounds of consultation, an acceptable consensus was reached. Those items that received an average rating of relevance lower than 5/10 and that at least the 75% of experts recommended removing were excluded. The preliminary questionnaire of persistence in activity was composed of 30 items.
Conclusions: The consensus on the content of the CCAP-FM will allow advancing towards the assessment of the relation between the modification of the cognitions responsible for the maintenance of the persistence in activity and the clinical improvement in people with fibromyalgia.

Amidst the global shift toward cannabis legalization, this study examines medical cannabis (MC) sales as an indicator of economic activity and innovation. It explores associations between MC sales, and variables including tobacco use, alcohol consumption, amphetamine, cocaine and cannabis prevalence, and gross domestic product (GDP), using a fixed effects (FE) panel regression model. It also evaluates associations between cannabis legalization and MC sales over time using a dynamic Difference-in-Differences (DiD) approach with multiple time periods.

Background: Little is documented on key community-based One Health (OH) approach implementation, pro-activeness and effectiveness of interactions and strategies against Mpox outbreak public health emergency in international concern (PHEIC) in various African countries in order to stamp out the persisting Mpox outbreak threat and burden. Prioritizing critical community-based interventions and lessons learned from previous COVID-19, Mpox, Ebola, COVID-19, Rift Valley Fever and Marburg virus outbreaks revealed critical shortcomings in funding, surveillance, and community engagement that plague public health initiatives across the continent. The article provides critical insights and benefits of community-based One Health approaches implementation against Mpox outbreak management in Africa.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is characterized by persistent and unresolved tissue inflammation caused by the infiltration and dysregulation of immune cells. Current therapeutics targeting inflammatory immune cells for T2D remain limited. In this study, we analyzed single cell RNA from metabolic organs in T2D, revealing increased macrophage accumulation and a pathogenic macrophage subpopulation defined as NOD-like receptor (NLR) family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammatory and metabolically activated macrophages.

Study Question: What is the direct effect of mumps virus (MuV) replication within the human testis on the tissue innate immune responses and testicular cell functions?
Summary Answer: MuV induces an early pro-inflammatory response in the human testis ex vivo and infects both Leydig cells and Sertoli cells, which drastically alters testosterone and inhibin B production.
What Is Known Already: Despite widespread vaccination efforts, orchitis remains a significant complication of MuV infection, especially in young men, which potentially results in infertility in up to 87% of patients with bilateral orchitis. Our understanding of MuV pathogenesis in the human testis has been limited by the lack of relevant animal models, impairing the development of effective treatments.

PER: and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are persistent environmental pollutants that accumulate in aquatic ecosystems, posing a threat to wildlife. This study examines the potential of Asian clams (Corbicula fluminea) as an active biomonitoring species for assessing PFAS contamination in the Scheldt River, Belgium. Clams were exposed in cages at six sites along the river for a six-week exposure period, with simultaneous collection of sediment and water samples at each site.
