Enhanced biomethanation with acid stress on anaerobic sludge, dehydrogenase activity, protein expression, and the primary proteomic profiling of microbial communities during the enhanced anaerobic digestion process from Taihu Blue Algae were investigated. It was found that the accumulation of organic acids and the specific biogas accumulation rate were 1.8 and 1.3 times of the control, when 10 g/L and 7.5 g/L of butyrate were selected for acid stress, respectively. Meanwhile, dehydrogenase activity of the 7.5 g/L acid stress group exhibited an increase of 1.6 times of the control, and protein expression was also found to be enhanced sharply as revealed by 1D-PAGE. Finally, twenty of the matched protein spots through 2D-PAGE from both the control and the 7.5 g/L stress groups were identified by MALDI-TOF MS, and five of which were proved to be involved in bioenergy metabolism. Significantly, ATR related proteins might be induced as the pIs of which were acidic as 5.92, 5.51 and 5.54, respectively.

Vanadium (V) is a trace element in the environment; it is detected in soil, water, air, dust, and food products. V-containing compounds have shown therapeutic potential in the treatment of diabetes. However, studies on the effects of V on animal behavior remain limited and sporadic.

Myocardial injury constitutes a life-threatening complication of sepsis, driven by synergistic oxidative-inflammatory pathology involving dysregulated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and proinflammatory cytokines. This pathophysiological cascade remarkably elevates morbidity and mortality rates in septic patients, emerging as a key contributor to poor clinical outcomes. Despite its clinical significance, no clinically validated therapeutics currently exist for managing septic cardiomyopathy.

Protein translation regulation is critical for cellular responses and development, yet how elongation stage disruptions shape these processes remains incompletely understood. Here, we identify a single amino acid substitution (P55Q) in the ribosomal protein RPL-36A of Caenorhabditis elegans that confers complete resistance to the elongation inhibitor cycloheximide (CHX). Heterozygous animals carrying both wild-type RPL-36A and RPL-36A(P55Q) develop normally but show intermediate CHX resistance, indicating a partial dominant effect.

Intense hepatobiliary uptake of [Tc]Tc-sestamibi in myocardial perfusion scintigraphy (MPS) often degrades image quality by obscuring the inferior myocardial wall, leading to equivocal studies. While nonpharmacological interventions are inconsistent, the choleretic agent ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) could potentially accelerate hepatic clearance. The effectiveness of a convenient, single-dose UDCA intervention has not been rigorously evaluated.

Organisms use circadian clocks to synchronize physiological processes to anticipate the Earth's day-night cycles and regulate responses to environmental signals to gain competitive advantage. While divergent genetic clocks have been studied extensively in bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals, an ancient conserved circadian redox rhythm has been recently reported. However, its biological function and physiological outputs remain elusive.
