Background: Residual renal function (RRF) recently has been confirmed to be a significant predictor of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis (HD) patients. As RRF is not exactly the same with 24-h residual urine volume, the aim of our study is to evaluate the association of residual urine volume with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) among HD patients.
Methods: 282 patients starting chronic HD in our center during January 2005 and December 2008 were enrolled. The clinical data at HD initiation and the occurrence of AIS since starting HD were recorded and obtained from our database. According to the prevalence of AIS, we divided 282 patients into the AIS group (n=69) and non-AIS (n=213) group.
Results: A total of 69 (24.5%) patients suffered from AIS since HD initiation. Patients with AIS were much older, with more diabetes, had higher levels of hemoglobin, while lower levels of residual urine volume and serum uric acid. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, old age (OR, 1.036; 95% CI, 1.009-1.063; P=0.008), diabetes (OR, 2.385; 95% CI, 1.074-5.294; P=0.033) and 24-h residual urine volume<1290 ml at HD initiation (OR, 2.446; 95% CI, 1.219-4.907; P=0.012) was significant predictors for future AIS occurrence during HD.
Conclusion: This study indicates that residual urine volume levels at HD initiation are inversely associated with AIS risk in future in chronic HD patients. Besides, aging and diabetes should also be noticed for prevention of AIS.

Introduction: The residual risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression remains high in clinical trials of kidney protective drugs in patients with diabetic kidney disease (DKD).
Methods: In a prospective study, we assessed whether 16 plasma and 10 urine cytokine levels can inform the residual risk of CKD progression in 93 incident patients with DKD treated by Nephrology according to clinical guidelines.
Results: Plasma and urine levels of 12 plasma and 7 urinary cytokines differed between patients with DKD and from healthy controls.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) and hemodialysis (HD) are the two primary renal replacement therapies for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). While PD is an effective and convenient modality, long-term use can lead to ultrafiltration failure, recurrent peritonitis, and progressive structural alterations in the peritoneal membrane, necessitating a transition to HD. In recent years, rather than a complete transition, the combined use of PD and HD has emerged as a viable alternative, offering potential advantages for selected patient populations.

Objective: To investigate the effects of 3D laparoscopic radical resection prostatectomy(LRP) on urinary control and sexual function of patients with prostatic cancer. Methods: A total of 268 patients who were treated with LRP in the Fifth People's Hospital of Huai'an City from January 2019 to May 2022 were selected and divided into 2 groups according to surgical methods, with 134 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were treated with traditional LRP, and the 3D LRP was used in the observation group.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the functional status of the urethra using uroflowmetry before surgery, as well as three and six months postoperatively in cases of distal hypospadias.
Material And Methods: Thirty-nine consecutive patients who underwent surgery for distal hypospadias (hypospadias group) between 2016 and 2019 were prospectively included as part of this study. The control group consisted of 40 patients with a normal urethra who underwent surgery due to conditions other than hypospadias (phimosis, undescended testis, hernia).

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: "Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract" (CAKUT) represent a heterogeneous and rare group of disorders affecting the urinary tract. Despite the widespread availability of ultrasound, the diagnosis of congenital urinary tract malformations is often made in adulthood. As a result, CAKUT are typically incidental findings during imaging investigations.
