Open ring enhancement is considered highly specific for atypical demyelination. In this report we present a patient with a history of headache, ataxia and sensory disturbances in the lower extremities. A cranial MRI scan showed a large frontal lesion with mass effect, midline shift and with open ring enhancement. These findings are characteristics of tumefactive multiple sclerosis. Such lesions can be confused with neoplasms and abscesses. Open ring enhancement may help in differentiating atypical demyelination from a neoplasm or an abscess.

A De Garengeot hernia describes the rare occurrence of an appendix located within a femoral hernia sac. An incidence of appendiceal inflammation associated with a De Garengeot hernia is an even rarer surgical finding. A woman in her 70s presented to a district general hospital with a two-week history of a mildly tender right-sided groin lump.

Purpose: Pelvic ring fractures involving the iliopubic rami can cause functional impairment. Percutaneous retrograde fixation is a less invasive procedure when compared to traditional open approaches, however precise anatomical knowledge is crucial for safe screw placement. This study aims to describe the morphology of the iliopubic rami, define a safety corridor for percutaneous screw fixation, specially focusing on the relationships between the iliopubic rami and neurovascular structures.

Mechanochemical reduction of β-diketiminate (BDI) barium iodide precursors with K/KI resulted in the first barium inverse sandwich complexes containing the benzene dianion in yields of up to 54%. This most challenging isolation of highly reactive (BDI)Ba-(CH)-Ba(BDI) complexes, completes the family of heavier benzene inverse sandwich complexes and allows for a comparison of trends in the series from Mg, Ca, Sr to Ba. Syntheses, stabilities, structures, electronic states and reactivities of the full range are compared.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is an extremely aggressive brain tumor, marked by restricted therapeutic possibilities and a generally unfavorable prognosis. GBM's complexity and heterogeneity necessitate comprehensive genetic and immunological profiling to enhance therapeutic strategies.
Methods: The study integrated The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Integrative Epidemiology Unit Open Genome-Wide Association Studies (IEU OpenGWAS) data to identify genetic factors influencing GBM using expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) and genome-wide association studies (GWAS).

Background: Signet ring cell (SRC) colorectal cancer is strongly associated with peritoneal metastases (PM), but the role of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) remains uncertain due to poor prognosis. This study aimed to analyse the prognostic impact of SRCs, assess clinical characteristics, and evaluate the risk of open-close laparotomy.
Methods: This Swedish population-based study included patients with colorectal PM accepted for initial CRS and HIPEC at four national centres between 2010 and 2023.
