A peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) provides an important access for patients requiring prolonged intravenous infusion. However, intravascular migration and subsequent malposition of a PICC may be caused by its flexibility and thinness and by changes in intrathoracic pressure and body position. In this report, we describe one case of persistent hiccup whose PICC migrated to and was bent and folded in the right subclavian vein.

Persistent singultus (hiccups) can be distressing and challenging to manage in the postoperative setting. While pharmacological interventions such as metoclopramide are commonly used, their effectiveness is often limited. Gentian root (Gentiana lutea) contains intensely bitter secoiridoid compounds known to stimulate vagally mediated reflexes and has a long history of use for digestive complaints.

Background: This report provides a comprehensive overview of the clinical manifestations, diagnostic evaluations, treatment, and prognosis of a 36-year-old male patient diagnosed with autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP-A) in conjunction with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection at our institution. Reports of GFAP-A associated with viral infections are infrequent.
Case Presentation: The patient exhibited a range of symptoms, including fever, gait instability resembling ataxia, a sensation akin to stepping on cotton, diminished responsiveness, cognitive decline, urinary and bowel dysfunction, and persistent hiccups.
Intractable hiccups are a rare but distressing symptom that can significantly impair a patient's quality of life, particularly in those with underlying medical conditions such as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). This case report describes a 59-year-old male patient with a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension who presented to the emergency department with persistent hiccups lasting for five days, coinciding with an exacerbation of his diabetes leading to DKA. Despite initial treatments with metoclopramide, chlorpromazine, and baclofen, the hiccups persisted, causing considerable distress.
