Submicrometer-sized Ga particles were dispersed in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) matrix by an ultrasonic vibration and sedimentation method. The solid phase transition from γ-Ga to δ-Ga and its Ga particle size dependence were studied by means of differential scanning calorimeter measurements. It was shown that a solid-solid phase transition corresponding to the [Formula: see text]-Ga one happened in Ga particles upon cooling. Moreover, the ratio of the particles undergoing the solid phase transition to all particles increases with decrease of the particle size.

The iron-based high-[Formula: see text] superconductors (SCs) exhibit rich phase diagrams with intertwined phases, including magnetism, nematicity, and superconductivity. The superconducting [Formula: see text] in many of these materials is maximized in the regime of strong nematic fluctuations, making the role of nematicity in influencing the superconductivity a topic of intense research. Here, we use the AC elastocaloric effect (ECE) to map out the phase diagram of Ba(FeCo)As near optimal doping.

Zygotes are used to create genetically modified animals by electroporation using the CRISPR-Cas9 system. Such zygotes in rats are obtained from superovulated female rats after mating. Recently, we reported that in vivo-fertilized zygotes had higher cryotolerance and developmental ability than in vitro-fertilized zygotes in Sprague Dawley (SD) and Fischer 344 rats.

Conventional gelatin's gel-to-sol transition upon heating restricts its utility in biomedical applications that benefit from a gel state at physiological temperatures such as Pluronic F127 and poly(NIPAAm). Herein, we present "rev-Gelatin", a gelatin engineered with reverse thermo-responsive properties that undergoes a sol-to-gel transition as temperature rises from ambient to body temperature. Inspired by the phase dynamics of common materials like candy and ice cubes, whose surfaces soften or partially melt under warming, facilitating inter-object adhesion- rev-Gelatin leverages this concept to achieve fluidity at room temperature for easy injectability.

This transition leads to a significant growth reduction and can result in digestive disorders, including diarrhea.
