We describe the case of an apparently healthy newborn infant who in 7th day of life showed an episode of haematemesis and in 13th day of life presented an episode of apparent life threatening event (ALTE). A fibroscopy of the upper digestive tract showed a great ulcer of the gastric antrum and esophagitis limited to the mucosa. Gastrinemia in the blood showed high values (121 pg/ml). The relationship between ALTE and gastric ulcer may be casual, however in literature a gastroenteric cause is present in about 50% of ALTE in which an etiologic cause is found. We speculate that in the present case the increase of gastrin secretion reduced gastric pH which facilitated the onset of gastric ulcer and esophagitis with ALTE due to pain or reflex.

Background: Healthcare workers (HCWs) played a crucial role in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to increased workloads, they were confronted with stigmatization due to their work in the health sector.
Methods: Guided by the Health Stigma and Discrimination Framework (HSDF), this study aimed to explore the experiences of stigmatization of HCWs in Germany using semi-structured interviews (N = 34) and investigate effective coping strategies and existing needs in this context.

This study aimed to examine the impact of composite enzymatic treatment on the physicochemical properties of oat milk, which would provide an effective strategy to improve the stability of plant-based milk. Oat milks treated with individual α-amylase or in combination with the protein glutaminase were produced. The result indicated that composite enzyme treatment significantly changed the physicochemical properties and significantly improved the stability of oat milk.

Unlabelled: High infestation levels of small hive beetle (SHB), , can cause more damage to honeybee, , host colonies. However, the spatiotemporal variation of SHB infestations is poorly understood. Here, we show that SHB infestations can be equally high in native and invasive ranges, suggesting that differences between host populations are the key criterion for damage.

In ammonia synthesis, a new reaction system that does not use hydrogen (H) as a raw material, such as the plasma/liquid (P/L) reaction, contributes to creating a sustainable chemical industry. The P/L reaction is intended to abstract hydrogen atoms from water molecules to synthesize ammonia under ambient conditions without any catalysts but using electrically activated nitrogen species in the plasma. Therefore, the energy transfer process leading to nitrogen activation is key to the P/L reaction.

Tenrecs (Afrosoricida: Tenrecidae) are insectivorous mammals endemic to Madagascar, currently facing population declines due to habitat loss and subsistence hunting. Emerging infectious diseases, including parasitic infections, may pose additional threats. A comparable situation has been observed in Algerian hedgehogs (Atelerix algirus) in Mallorca, where the invasive nematode Angiostrongylus cantonensis has been associated with severe neuropathology.
