MXene-enhanced paper/hydrogel bilayer moisture-driven generator for long-term energy output.

J Colloid Interface Sci

September 2025

College of Bioresources Chemical and Materials Engineering, Shaanxi University of Science & Technology, Xi'an 710021, China. Electronic address:

Moisture-driven energy generators (MEGs) represent a renewable energy technology, yet challenges such as environmental humidity dependence and transient power generation behavior hinder their practical applications. Herein, a high-performance bilayer MEG is developed by integrating MXene-impregnated paper with a polyacrylamide (PAM) hydrogel to realize environmental tolerance and sustained power generation. Electronegative MXene and paper with 3D porous structure synergistically facilitate selective transport of positive charge, while the hydrogel serves as a water reservoir to provide a moist environment and migratory ions.

Near-surface reconstruction in cobalt-free spinel positive electrodes for high-performance lithium-ion batteries.

Spinel lithium manganate (LiMnO) is considered a highly promising cobalt-free cathode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) owing to its three-dimensional Li-ion diffusion channels and the abundance of manganese. However, its practical applications are limited due to the substantial capacity deterioration induced by the Jahn-Teller effect and interfacial instability with the organic electrolyte. In this work, we propose a polyanion-based surface engineering strategy that enables simultaneous doping and the formation of a protective coating on the LiMnO cathode.

Vascularization of implanted biomaterials is critical to reconstructive surgery and tissue engineering. Ultimately, the goal is to promote a rapidly perfusable hierarchical microvasculature that persists with time and can meet underlying tissue needs. We have previously shown that using a microsurgical technique, termed micropuncture (MP), in combination with porous granular hydrogel scaffolds (GHS) fabricated via interlinking hydrogel microparticles (microgels) results in a rapidly perfusable patterned microvasculature.

Nanostructuring, which shortens lithium-ion diffusion lengths, can help facilitate pseudocapacitive behavior in some battery materials. Here, nanostructured LiNiCoAlO (NCA), with porosity and decreased crystallite size compared to commercial bulk NCA, was synthesized using a colloidal polymer template. Small particles (∼150 nm) were obtained using rapid thermal annealing (RTA), while medium particles (∼300 nm) were obtained with conventional heating.

Suppression of passivation on NiMoO4 microrod by ultrathin metal-organic-framework nanosheets in urea-assisted natural seawater splitting.

J Colloid Interface Sci

Center for Innovative Materials and Architectures, Ho Chi Minh City 700000, Viet Nam; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City 700000, Viet Nam. Electronic address:

Organic nucleophile-assisted natural seawater electrolysis has emerged as a promising strategy for green hydrogen production by significantly reducing energy consumption. Among Ni-based electrocatalysts, NiMoO has drawn attention for its activity in both oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and urea oxidation reaction (UOR). However, its practical application is hindered by severe surface passivation, particularly at industrial current densities (e.
