The authors present a previously unreported association of different types of intestinal atresia in identical low-birth-weight twins. Both babies were affected by duodenal atresia, associated in the first case with a complete mucosal duodenal membrane and in the second one with an "apple-peel" jejunal atresia. These occurrences may suggest that they were either the consequence of linkage of 2 genes or a pleiotropic expression of a single gene responsible for such rare conditions.

This study evaluated the effects of raising systems and diet types on growth performance, carcass characteristics, pH content, fatty acid profiles and meat quality in Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica). A total of 608 seven-day-old quail chicks were arranged in a 2 × 2 factorial design, with two raising systems (cage and free-range) and two diet types (conventional and organic). The experiment employed a completely randomized design with four treatments, four replicates per treatment, and 38 birds per replicate.

Small-scale magnetically actuated catheters capable of remote active navigation have promising applications in minimally invasive surgeries. However, existing fabrication techniques hinder their integration with multimodal sensing components, especially since embedding rigid electronic components within the catheters may diminish their flexibility and controllability. Here we report a magnetically actuated bioelectronic catheter with the in situ multiplexed biosensing of multiple types of metabolite or ion simultaneously.

NLR (Nod-like receptor) family pyrin domain containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation is key component of innate immune response and is implicated in many autoimmune conditions. Usnoflast is a novel, selective NLRP3-inflammasome inhibitor and is currently in Phase II for various indications including Ulcerative colitis. Here, we report the effect of usnoflast in several experimental models of intestinal inflammation, some of them for the first time for any NLRP3 inhibitor, which involves both innate and adaptive immune mechanisms.

Cattle-yaks are increasingly cultivated to boost yak dairy production while reports claim that will decrease the nutritional value of yak milk. However, studies on protein composition differences, especially functional proteins, between yak and cattle-yak milk are limited. This study explores these differences using data-independent acquisition (DIA) proteomics to compare whey proteins and milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) proteins in both types of milk.
