Purpose: To analyze the gap junction proteins connexin 37 (Cx37) and connexin 43 (Cx43) after subcutaneous transplantation of cryopreserved mouse ovarian tissue.
Methods: Expression of gap junction genes was assessed by immunohistochemistry and real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in transplanted cryopreserved ovarian tissue compared with that of normal ovarian tissue. Apoptosis of ovarian cells was evaluated by using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated biotinylated deoxyuridine triphosphates nick end-labeling method.
Results: After subcutaneous transplantation, Cx37 and Cx43 mRNA and protein expression were significantly lower in cryopreserved than in normal ovarian tissue. Apoptosis was increased in granulosa cells from antral follicles of the cryopreserved tissue.
Conclusion: After cryopreservation and subcutaneous transplantation of ovarian tissue, proteins forming gap junctions between oocytes and granulosa cells are under-expressed compared with normal controls.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) represent a promising therapeutic approach in gynecologic cancers, particularly ovarian and cervical malignancies. Agents such as mirvetuximab soravtansine, and tisotumab vedotin, targeting folate receptor alpha and tissue factor, respectively, reported clinical efficacy in patients with limited options. However, their use is associated with ocular toxicities, including keratopathy, blurred vision, and dry eye, which may impact adherence and quality of life.

The present study aimed to (1) evaluate the effects of different concentrations of the polysaccharide extract of Cissus sicyoides (PE-Cs) during in vitro culture of preantral follicles included in goat ovarian tissue on (i) follicular morphology and activation, (ii) ovarian stromal density, (iii) follicular and oocyte diameters, (iv) antioxidant enzymes activity (SOD, CAT, and GPx), (v) quantification of MDA, thiol, and nitrite levels; as well as to (2) measure the total antioxidant capacity of the extract. The ovarian cortex fragments were cultured at 39 °C in a humidified atmosphere with 5% CO for 6 d in alpha-modified minimum essential medium (αMEM) supplemented with insulin, transferrin, and selenium; hypoxanthine; glutamine; and bovine serum albumin, which was called αMEM alone or added of PE-Cs at 20, 40, or 80 µg/mL. At the end of the culture period, a reduction in the percentage of normal follicles in all treatments using PE-Cs compared to fresh control and αMEM.

Objective: Renibacterium salmoninarum, the causative agent of bacterial kidney disease, poses a major threat to both wild and aquaculture salmonid populations. Traditional detection methods typically involve lethal sampling to collect kidney tissues but are often impractical for species of conservation concern. This study evaluates nonlethal sampling techniques for detecting R.

Zona pellucida glycoprotein-1 (ZP1) is essential for maintaining oocyte structural integrity and facilitating fertilization. Mutations in are strongly associated with primary infertility disorders such as fertilization failure and empty follicle syndrome; however, the absence of accurate experimental models has hindered mechanistic understanding and obscured the etiological basis of -related infertility. In this study, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing was employed to generate two -edited cynomolgus macaques ( ), designated #ZP1-1 (male) and #ZP1-2 (female).

Struma ovarii (SO) is a rare form of ovarian teratoma predominantly composed of thyroid tissue. While most cases follow a benign course, some may exhibit malignant transformation or extra-ovarian spread. We present the case of a 43-year-old woman with a history of SO previously treated with right oophorectomy and systemic chemotherapy, along with a separate diagnosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma managed with total thyroidectomy and radioactive iodine ablation.
