Article Abstract

Objective: To compare the clinical effect of three TCM therapeutic methods, Yiqi (YQ, supplementing Qi), Huoxue (HX, activating blood circulation) and Yiqi Huoxue (YQHX) method on congestive heart failure and heart function.

Methods: Eighty patients were divided into 3 groups randomly, they were treated by conventional therapy and with the additional TCM drugs for YQHX to group A (n = 36), drugs for YQ to group B (n = 24), and drugs for HX to group C (n = 20). After 2 weeks' treatment, clinical effect was observed and cardiac function was detected and compared.

Results: The total effective rate was 91.7% in group A, which was superior to that in group B (66.7%) and group C (65.0%) respectively. Cardiac function was improved remarkably after treatment in all groups, the optimal effect was shown in group A.

Conclusion: All the 3 methods could improve clinical symptoms and cardiac function in patients with congestive heart failure, among which YQHX method has the optimal effect.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) improves outcomes in heart failure, but prior interventions like percutaneous mitral annuloplasty may hinder lead placement. We present a 70-year-old male with ischemic cardiomyopathy and severe functional mitral regurgitation who previously received a Carillon device. Due to coronary sinus inaccessibility, left bundle branch area pacing optimized cardiac resynchronization therapy (LOT-CRT) was performed.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) research is hindered by limited comprehensive analyses of plasma proteome across disease subtypes. Here, we systematically investigated the associations between plasma proteins and cardiovascular outcomes in 53,026 UK Biobank participants over a 14-year follow-up. Association analyses identified 3,089 significant associations involving 892 unique protein analytes across 13 CVD outcomes.

Background: High-density lipoprotein (HDL) function, rather than its concentration, plays a crucial role in the development of coronary artery disease (CAD). Diminished HDL antioxidant properties, indicated by elevated oxidized HDL (nHDL) and diminished paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) activity, may contribute to vascular dysfunction and inflammation. Data on these associations in CAD patients, including acute coronary syndrome (ACS), remain limited.

Introduction: Cardiac amyloidosis is an underdiagnosed disease, and its prevalence is probably higher than previously estimated. We aimed to investigate the effect of introducing a systemic diagnostic algorithm for cardiac amyloidosis in clinical practice.

Methods: A systematic diagnostic algorithm was developed and clinically applied in two hospitals in Eastern Denmark.

Introduction: People with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases are advised to do aerobic exercise for symptom relief and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Continuous exercise at an intensity causing a rate of perceived exertion of 15, on a 6-20-point Borg scale, exemplifies such exercise. Also, the instruction "Now you need to increase your heart rate" is used before aerobic exercise.
