Membrane sorting between secretory and endocytic organelles is predominantly controlled by small carrier vesicles or tubules that have specific protein coats on their cytoplasmic surfaces. Clathrin-clathrin-adaptor coats function in many steps of intracellular transport and are the most extensively studied of all transport-vesicle coats. In recent years, the determination of structures of clathrin assemblies by electron microscopy, of domains of clathrin and of its adaptors has improved our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of clathrin-coated-vesicle assembly and disassembly.

The brown planthopper (BPH) Nilaparvata lugens is one of the most destructive pests of rice, and its management has primarily relied on chemical insecticides. Currently, the chemical management of BPH is facing challenges due to the development of pesticide resistance. RNA interference (RNAi) provides attractive alternative to chemical insecticides, provided that suitable target genes are identified.

Since the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in recent years, our society has become more aware that zoonotic diseases pose a real threat. Therefore, the demand for small molecules that target host proteins, essential for viral entry and replication, has increased as an interesting strategy for the development of antiviral agents, as these agents may be effective against several different pathogens. NAK kinases is one such potential target family because they are involved in a variety of cellular functions, hijacked by viruses to invade host cells, such as clathrin-mediated endocytosis.

Background: Microplastic pollution increasingly affects human health. Polystyrene nanoparticles (PS-NPs) and microplastics (PS-MPs) may impair Sertoli cells (SCs), vital for male fertility.
Objectives: To compare PS-NPs (80 nm)/PS-MPs (8 µm) toxicity on rat SCs, focusing on oxidative stress, apoptosis, epithelial barrier integrity, endocytosis pathways, and miRNA-mediated ceRNA networks.

The size and number of lipid droplets (LDs), as intracellular lipids storage organelles, are closely correlated to lipid metabolism. However, the regulation of lipid metabolism is still unclear. Here, based on changes in three LD phenotypic indicators, including LD number, average LD area, and total LD amount in a cell, we establish an imaging-based high-throughput screen on a compound library.

Adipose tissue is a central organiser of systemic lipid homeostasis and a pharmacological target in obesity, orchestrating cellular responses to environmental cues. Nutritionally regulated adipose and cardiac enriched protein (NRAC) is a small adipocyte-specific transmembrane protein with unknown function. Here, we show that Nrac directly interacts with scavenger receptor CD36 via its first transmembrane domain.
