Article Abstract

In the present report, the authors studied the movement of pigment particles which decide the display status, enduced the equation of the motion and the expression of reflectivity, and estimated the value of the delay time. Combining the above theoretical conclusion with the experimental results, the authors discussed the feasibility of the passive matrix addressing of electrophoretic image displays, and provided good advice on how to acquire display devices of good quality.

Background/objectives: Hyporeflective clumps (HRC) are a common finding in adaptive optics ophthalmoscopy (AOO) of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). They appear on optical coherence tomography (OCT) as hyperreflective foci (HRF) or abutting the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) layer as RPE thickening. The cellular origin of HRF is debated between migrated RPE cells and mononuclear phagocytes (MP).

Compound Eye Structure and Phototactic Dimorphism in the Yunnan Pine Shoot Beetle, (Coleoptera: Scolytinae).

Biology (Basel)

August 2025

Key Laboratory of Forest Disaster Warning and Control in Yunnan Province, Southwest Forestry University, Kunming 650224, China.

, a notorious forest pest in southwest China, primarily employs infochemicals to coordinate mass attacks that overcome host tree defenses. However, secondary visual cues, particularly detection of host color changes, also aid host location. This study characterized the compound eye structure and vision of using electron microscopy and phototaxis tests.

BLOC-1 and BORC: Complex regulators of endolysosomal dynamics.

Cell Chem Biol

August 2025

Division of Neuroscience and Cellular Structure, Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD 20892, USA. Electronic address:

Endolysosomes are dynamic organelles that undergo movement along the cytoskeleton, fusion, fission, and tubulation during their lifetime. These processes are regulated by complex molecular machineries, including the structurally related hetero-octameric complexes BLOC-1 and BORC. BLOC-1 associates with early endosomes to mediate the biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles (LROs), such as melanosomes and platelet dense bodies.

Antiangiogenic Activity of 6-O-Desulfated Modified Heparin: Suppression of Choroidal Neovascularization.

Int J Mol Sci

August 2025

Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology Division, Escola Paulista de Medicina, Universidade Federal de São Paulo, São Paulo 04044-020, Brazil.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, primarily due to pathological choroidal neovascularization (CNV). Our study investigates a chemically modified heparin derivative as a novel strategy to selectively modulate angiogenic signaling, offering a reduced anticoagulant risk and preclinical support for AMD treatment. We explored the therapeutic potential of 6-O-desulfated heparin (Hep-6Od) as an antiangiogenic agent with diminished anticoagulant activity.

Nervous systems coordinate effectors across the body during movements. We know little about the cellular-level structure of synaptic circuits for such body-wide control. Here, we describe the whole-body synaptic connectome of a segmented larva of the marine annelid .
