Various factors have been suggested to participate in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology, and some inflammatory cytokines may play an important role in the development of AD. Interferon-gamma (IFNG), an important pro-inflammatory cytokine, is encoded by a single gene mapped to chromosome 12, one of the candidate locus of AD. The first intron in the IFNG gene represents a CA repeat polymorphism that is possible to affect the IFNG secretion dose. We speculate that the polymorphism may have some roles on the inflammatory process and the pathologic change in AD, so we analyzed the IFNG gene polymorphism in 199 Japanese AD patients and 225 Japanese controls. There were no significant differences in allele frequency between the AD and control groups. We conclude that IFNG gene polymorphism is not associated with development of AD.

Osteoporosis is a progressive bone disease characterized by reduced bone density and deterioration of bone microarchitecture, predominantly affecting the elderly population. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has introduced additional challenges in osteoporosis management, potentially due to systemic inflammation and direct viral impacts on bone metabolism. This study aims to identify common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and key molecular pathways shared between osteoporosis and COVID-19, with the goal of uncovering potential therapeutic targets through bioinformatics analysis.

Non-syndromic hearing loss (NSHL) is a common sensory disorder with a multifactorial origin, involving both genetic and environmental components. Its genetic basis shows significant variability and incomplete penetrance across populations. Environmental factors, especially TORCH infections and sterile inflammation, may contribute to NSHL by triggering inflammatory cascades.

Background: Programmed cell death protein-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression is an important marker for immunotherapy in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC). PD-L1 expression has a bi-directional positive feedback relationship with glycolysis status.
Objective: This study aimed to develop a metabolic habitat model based on F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) images to predict PD-L1 expression levels in patients with LA-NSCLC, and to explore relevant biological characteristics.

This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanisms of phytochemicals from Chaga mushroom () against colorectal cancer (CRC) using a combination of network pharmacology, molecular docking, and bioinformatics. Active components and targets of Chaga mushroom and CRC were collected from databases. A drug-compound-target-disease network was constructed, and protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis was performed to identify core targets.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a clinically aggressive malignancy marked by rapid disease progression, limited therapeutic avenues, and high recurrence risk. Ferroptosis an iron-dependent, lipid peroxidation-driven form of regulated cell death that has emerged as a promising therapeutic vulnerability in oncology. This study delineates the ferroptosis-associated molecular architecture of TNBC to identify key regulatory genes with prognostic and translational significance.
